4% chance of play offs
Some interesting statistical analysis knocking about these days
This shows our expected final league position based on probabilities of goals we will score versus all the teams left to play and how many they are likely to concede

Re: 4% chance of play offs
This one shows average shots taken and faced per match and shows as third best in the division

Re: 4% chance of play offs
This one shows that we are the third highest in the league for shots taken per match, but when converted into a ratio of goals per shot we are far and away the lowest in the league.

Re: 4% chance of play offs
This one shows us that we are fourth lowest in the league for shots faced per match, but when you convert that into a ratio of goals conceded per shot we are fourth worst

Re: 4% chance of play offs
And finally this one shows us that we are seventh in the league based on expected number of goals scored per match (based on shots taken versus goals scored) and second in the league based on goals conceded per shot faced.

Re: 4% chance of play offs
Statistics are what they are and you can bend or shape them to suit whatever argument you want but this is pretty irrefutable. We are pretty damned good at defending our own goal but we just cant seem to score enough at the other end.
how frustrating must it be for the coaching staff that they can see that the effort and the play is pretty much there, but for whatever reason we just aren't converting? Do we really need to tinker much with the squad? The chances are being created, the proof is there for all to see, so surely it is down to psychology?
Get the shrinks in and save some transfer cash!

'Get the shrinks in and save some transfer cash'
Or just buy a finisher and a decent keeper.

Re: 4% chance of play offs
I'd be interested to see the analysis of who is missing all these attempts on goal

Re: 4% chance of play offs
Reassuring to see that people think we've more chance of reaching the play-offs than getting relegated. Rob, you'll have to come back to this thread at the end of the season so we can see how accurate this is.

Are those two stats what's called a 'perfect storm' ?
Sums up the season thus far.

Re: 4% chance of play offs
the only stat thats needed is that if you score more than the opposition is that you win the game.
