Cool 50 Years Ago

Almost 50 years ago saw me travel to Bournemouth from HMS Flowerdown near Winchester to watch Accrington Stanley for the last time. Sadly the Cherries won the third round of the FA cup 2 – 0 and I came away with my tail between my legs. It was a long journey back to Winchester to face my ship (shore base) mates.

Now that the worst of the winter weather is over I can bridge the 50 years gap by joining the faithful on Sat 1st and watch the Stanley take one more step to the football league albeit the lowest division.
<o></o>
Weather, health and pension permitting I intend to be a regular.

Re: 50 Years Ago

Well, me old jam butty and Flowerdown, you'll be in the right place.
Just get your manservant to drop you into the Olde Sports Bar and you'll meet loads of old pals whom you've forgotten that you never knew.

If you can make it to the Trophy Cabinets (can't miss 'em, just to the right of the Biggest Screen in Accrington) you'll come across the nicest bunch of Stanley Supporters you could ever wish to meet.

We'll be delighted to welcome you and to induct you into the Accrington Stanley Supporters' Club.

Honestly, you'll love it !

Talking Re: 50 Years Ago

I haven’t got a manservant but I look forward to meeting some real football fans. If you can remember Jack Hacking jnr and Cyril Briggs you’re in my era.

Thanks for the welcome Henry.
