Re: accies reject offer for rorry

PLEASE DONT GO RORY,

you are by far the best winger in the league and why go to a club in league 2 who look to be strugleing financaily compared with staying at a club where by you are garenteed a starting place and we are on the up

PLEASE DONT GO!!!!

Unhappy Re: accies reject offer for rorry

If Rory wants to go, which I hope he doesn't, then there is not a great deal the club can realistically do about it. If Stanley do not wish to cash in, he could be told to knuckle down or be thrown in the reserves. But this would more than likely have a negative effect with other players' moral being affected, and to the team's detriment.

If the Gasheads are serious about prising rory from our club, they can go about it by increasing their derisory opening offer. At all levels of football, money talks; and I wouldn't talk to anything less than 75k and a 25% sell-on clause, similar to the deal done with the Donkey-Lashers for Brett Ormerod a few years back.

Re: accies reject offer for rorry

A 'five figure sum' could mean anything from £10,000 to £99,999. I would bet that Bristol Rovers have offered something like £10,000. If I remember correctly we paid £7,500 for him with another £2,500 if we won the Unibond League. As stated the Club have turned down the offer, but, even if it was accepted the decision would be up to Rory and, if Bristol Rovers are skint I cannot see them offering much more in wages than we are. He would have to up sticks and move to Bristol as he couldn't travel from Yorkshire every day for training, so, I am sure it would have to be a substantial increase in wages to make him move to Bristol. He is a very important player for us but if somebody offered a 'five figure sum' say £99,999 then we would have to think seriously about letting him go and replacing him.

Re: accies reject offer for rorry

I would have thought with minimum expenditure over the last 12 months and lots coming in (sponsors, tv and cup run) then Rory is more important than 99k which would probably just go in the bank with the rest of the stash and not get used..

I am sure it was 15k JEFF .. Dunno why.. just have it in my head...

Re: accies reject offer for rorry

Rory Prendergast: 23-year-old left-winger signed from Bradford Park Avenue in December, 2002 for £7,500. Signed for Bradford from Frickley in July 2002, scoring 14 goals for Park Avenue. Made 24 Football League appearances with York City and Barnsley, and has also played with Emley, Nuneaton Borough and Gainsborough Trinity

It was either £5,000 + £2,500 or £7,500 + £2,500, but it really does not matter as he is going nowhere.

Re: accies reject offer for rorry

He'll have to improve his timekeeping if he wants to stay with us! What would we do if everyone turned up at 9:10 for a 7:45 kick off?

hehehehe

From the BBC website:

Bristol Rovers boss Ian Atkins has denied making a bid for Accrington winger Rory Prendergast. Stanley claimed Rovers had offered a five-figure sum for the 26-year-old but Atkins said: "We aren't in a position to make bids for any players. I always keep an eye on a lot of players and ask about them because of the contacts I have within the game. But if you enquire about a player, it doesn't always mean you want to buy them," he told his club's website.

What else would it mean when a club enquires about a player from another club?

Good call, Smiffy. I hadn't considered that they might just be checking on his contract status with an eye toward future action.

From todays NLP

Quote from Rory

Quote:
I'm definitely interested - you can't turn down the chance of League football, It's a great oppurtunity for me to get back into the League. I'm at the age where I should be looking to do that

and most worrying of all

Quote:
I've done all I can for Accrington and I feel it's do or die for me at the moment. I am hoping the clubs can reach an agreement in the next week or two
