Re: Accrington Stanley v Exeter City

Like others on this thread, I had to wait till i got home from a course to watch the match today (BTW its on DVD) although I knew the score last night. Wish people would stop knocking Cav for a mistimed tackle - it deserved what he got, a yellow card, it was never malicious and the penalty that never could be, it came off the Exeter players arm before hitting Gary Roberts hand so was a free kick to the men in Blue on the night. Who cares anyway, we won, we are 11 points clear with a game in hand and guess what - no Grecians and no Shrimpers (sorry but I do love winding them up).
moaning that they are being hard done too. Hope we beat Worksop on Saturday (I will be there) so I can go the the Millenium (taxi driver for missus and sister in law and niece - oh well some hardship) on the 25th February.

Re: Accrington Stanley v Exeter City

i was at the match and was well chuffed with firstly the performance of the players and secondly the turnout from Lancashire.

I would like to also say welcome to the family to the two big bruisers who came on the game with us (one from Wigan and one from Liverpool). They were working in the area and were having a drink in the local lush when we commandeered them, having first of all thought they were knobhead bruisers from Exeter (the atmosphere in that pub was a little hostile).

Lastly to any of those idiots from Exeter who saw fit to have a go as we left the ground - well done lads I bet your parents are well proud of you. Hold on why am I posting messages to people who probably can't read

Re: Accrington Stanley v Exeter City

I watched the match in a pub in Halifax with two other Stanley supporters, quite a few Halifax Town devotees and several neutrals.

Everyone who'd paid any attention to the screen agreed that they'd seen an astonishing Stanley performance, and probably the best Conference match ever broadcast on TV . From the first seconds of the game it was clear who wanted the victory, and the next 90 minutes confirmed it.

Those who had never seen our great players before were slack-jawed as they witnessed Gary Roberts, Ian Craney and Rob Elliot (my own M-O-M) achieving levels of skill which they associated with the Championship and above.
Roberts' first goal from a free kick was hailed as every bit as good as Beckham's against Greece. Drinkers at the bar marvelled at Rob Elliot's performance . "Future England 'keeper , that lad" was one of the comments made in genuine admiration.
Was I proud ? You bet. Proud of the players, but also of our true Stanley supporters who had made that long trip to show how much this game mattered to them. Well done, Guys 'n' Gals.

Re: Accrington Stanley v Exeter City

Well, thoughts on a great trip down to Exeter yesterday, got back at 4am went to bed at 5:10am & have watched the game twice already on SKY+

Excellent turnout & everyone that travelled on the coach made the atmosphere excellent. Arrived in Exeter about 5:30pm & straight into the pub we have used every time we have been to Exeter. Always a good atmosphere, always full of Stanley, always a good sing song & always some terrific home supporters....

Not this time I am afraid! The place was like a scene from Football Factory with 15 or so "lads" in burberry, aquascutum etc No trouble but when the singing started we had "We don't live in BAngladesh!" "Whats it like to own a corner shop!" etc etc Had to stop Kate from saying something as it could have been nasty. Not nice ....

Bad point over.... Stewards were great & we managed to fill the away end with the banners & lots had travellled independantly making a decent turnout! As ever noisy, bouyant, lively. If you ain't been away then book on as you are missing out

Onto the game, thought Accy have played much better if I am honest but took our chances very well & defended as if the game was a cup final which is again credit to the management. Robbie Elliott & Ian Craney the pick of our players with special mantion I feel for Michael Welch who is a no-nonsense central defender in every sense of the word.

Job Done & another win, fantastic journey home & proud to be from Accy. Many many memories from this season just in that away trip. The season just gets better & better

On Stanley On!

Re: Accrington Stanley v Exeter City

sounds brilliant with no minging cringing commentary, just the noise of the crowd. Turn it up full and sit back. Stanley TV are you listening?

Get the cameras on and stick a mic near the goalmouth. Maybe a subscription service (but keep it real eh?)
