Accy 1 v 1 Wigan

Having seen all the pre season friendlies bar Cardiff.. I have to say I was getting a little worried as to be frank we have been dire..

But tonight was a massive difference... great game by everyone... we looked a far better side than we have been doing and things look a lot better now... Roll on the 13th

Re: Accy 1 v 1 Wigan

There were at least 9 first teamers on the pitch in the second half and 7 in the first half. Most played the full 90 minutes and to be fair, Accy played them of the park. Hit the bar and the post and restricted them to some long range efforts worthy of that other wigan team - The Warriors - I thought he match was played in a good spirit and a fair result I suppose. But there again, I am biased. BTW the above statistics are from a Wigan athletic fan who I travelled with. and wasn't the journey home just peachy

Just a quick thought, what did everyone think of Rodney Jacks. I thought he looked lively in the first half until subbed. Would like to know what JC thinks though - Do other people think he might be worth signing - looked like Lutel in some respects

Re: Accy 1 v 1 Wigan

Agreed with everything here. Anthony Barry made a big difference in central midfield and with Rodney Jack up front, we looked like a team that was very comfortable on the ball. He also reminded me of Lutel and would certainly be a very good addition. I was also impressed with Lee Hunt up front as well.

BTW who was our no.18? It didn't look like Tretton, unless he's had a rather drastic haircut. I thought he played a blinder!

I agree that tonight was a massive improvement on other pre-season games. I wasn't bothered about the result, but the way we played was far more promising.

I did know the name of the 18, but it's slipped my mind (old age and poverty), but I was also impressed by the lad who came on up front towards the end. Was his name Hunt?

Re: Accy 1 v 1 Wigan

The sub who played up front was Lee Hunt, a very promising player from Rhyl.

Thanks WR. I knew it was something like that.

The 18 I think was Liam Richardson.

Definately a much improved performance from Stanley, at last I feel more optimistic about the coming season. I think the no. 18 was a lad called Michael Welsh from Macclesfield, Liam Richardson was playing in the no. 3 shirt.

As a 'newbie' fan to Stanley, I thought the standard of play was very impressive, and bodes well for the start of the season. The energy Jack showed in the first half, would make a good adition to the squad I think.

What I think is more impressive though, is the atmosphere at The Ultra. You are like a great big family, and I am lovin' it. Thanks for making me welcome.

Unless I'm going deaf, attendance was seven hundred and fifty ONE, see aren't you glad I came!

Highlight Number 1- Mullins well executed penalty in the back of the net.

Highlight Number 2- Evil splashin' his cream in my coffee before the match for me, and him saying, whilst looking at the burgers on offer, he 'fancied some cheese on his meat tonight'. WINK. Priceless.

Re: Accy 1 v 1 Wigan

Stanley last night looked a different team than the first Friendly against Cardiff (only two friendlys ive got to) and was great to be able to spend most of the match one nil up against a premiership team

Craney looked very lively and had a few good shots, Mullin and Jacks seemed to play well together and the whole team looked lively

Only thing was that the attendence was crap!!! I know its a Friendly but its still a premiership team so i would have thought it would have been better

But after that performance bring on Canvey
