AFC Emley

I was working over the border yeterday and had 10 mins to spare so I popped along to have a look at one of our old stomping ground. It was good to see that Emley are very much alive and kicking after the whole Wakefield thing, one sad point was the lack of memorabilia in the clubhouse as the last lot had taken it all to their new ground.

They were getting ready for the visit of Huddersfield in a pre season match(they beat them 3-1) and if you look at the pics you can see the temp fence between the cricket pitch and footy pitch has just been put back up.

I for one was gutted when they left this old ground and I hope they can continue to grow as AFC Emley.

I used to love going to Emley. You were so close to the pitch that it felt as though you were on it! The holiday fixtures against them were always a bumper affair too.

Re: AFC Emley

Good memories indeed. I remember Brett destroying them at their ground - must have been Easter 1996, it was certainly a hot day and there were a lot of Stanley supporters at the ground. We always took good crowds there ... and especially to Halifax!
