Ah well, you just had us on the wrong day today.
Not much you could do, we've had some really poor performances, but we were on form today, our defence was getting back to full strengh and you just could never get through our back line, and I think the only real chance you had was the penalty, which didn't go in...just not your day.
With us keeping you at bay at the back, it was a case of could you do the same, and we got abit more luck today with the opening goal, which was a cross so bad it went into the net (that we shall call a superb chip ) Then you got the pen, which the ref was rightly placed, so I'd say must've been a pen, but I was happy it was saved as I felt we deserve the lead from that first half performance.
with that lead we kept you at bay, hoping for the counter, and it was a superb counter got our 2nd goal beating your off-side trap and a superb finish. With the 2nd in boosting our confidence I think we finished the stronger, your lot seemed to give up (mind I suppose your manager was unlucky with attacking options as he had to make an attackive substitute early for injury) and we could've got a 3rd, but whereas at your place, you battered us and we robbed you of something with 2 goals against run of play, today I think the result reflected the game, we defended well, attacked well and got the win, I don't think they'll be too many complaints.
You just got us wrong time, a couple of weeks ago you'd beat us, but we've got back our key players (kev Gray is main one) and abit of confidence and it made it a very tough match (we were very strong at home until all the problems injury wise) but hey your fans seemed to enjoy the day, very good BTW, abit lower turn-out than I thought, BUT very loud and passionate, which more than made up for it.
As for team hard to say, I seen you hammer us, one of the few teams I would say really gave us a run-through at your place, but we handled you easily today, so you seem an on/off side, cannot say whether good enough or not, but I hope your there, I'd rather Accy over 2 legs than Woking or Exeter as that's a bloody long trip.
Hope the exiles got decent enough radio commentary on that link and poor old Derek wasn't too bad today.
Good luck rest of season.

Re: Ah well, you just had us on the wrong day today.
Yep one of the Carlisle players (dont know which one) went and talked to cammy in the car park at the end of the game and said, the banner was great we are a very good set of fans and the stewards where out of order, he wished us all the best for the future

Re: Ah well, you just had us on the wrong day today.
ah well that's nice to hear, good to see soem frienly reaction from a player to make up for the Steward part, but they are saying it was cause someone complained about it, but that could be a person badly affected by the floods of course who didn't take it in the right way, so suppose that's what happened.
Mind Baldy, although I do agree on both your points, the injury and penalty save were key areas to our win, I did feel if you'd scored that penalty it would've been very harsh on our side who'd kept you quiet most of the first half. Mind when I seen us score a fluke goal, then save a pen I knew we were having one of those 'everything for us' games and we would win.
Mind if you'd only had 'No Cursed Stones' on that banner, it would've been complete

Re: Ah well, you just had us on the wrong day today.
What with red herring's rants in the accy observer and complaining about banners, why do they bother to go to matches????

It was enjoyable and I thank you again for providing that link. I don't have any problems at all with a local commentator being a little bit of a "homer", as we say over here, and I didn't think he was out of line at all. As posted elsewhere, the first thing he actually mentioned in his broadcast was the away support and their banners.
His insistence at calling Ged Brannan "Gerrard" was a bit puzzling (I'd never seen or heard any one call him that so I had to check out his profile on the fishy site to verify that as his given name) but he more than made up for it by carrying on about the nice people at Barrow getting thrashed 3-0. I think he got more excited about the score of a rugby league match than anything that happened in the game he was calling.

Re: Ah well, you just had us on the wrong day today.
just got up with massive hangover.
some distant memories coming back............
a coach to carlilse, feeling good.
into a bar at the ground, stewards being arsey, carlilse fans being friendly.
onto the ground, being searched on the way in, losing my roll of red paper to more arsey stewards.
a game of football with 2 against us and a missed penalty by ged, whilst being watched by more arsey stewards.
an arsey steward who was a cross between stelios the kebab man and a tawny owl.
a jolly nice carlilse player who told us the banner we brought up was good and that the stewards were being arsey.
bus back to accy, lots of songs and to the crown for more beer.
please fill me in if there are any missed details

Re: Ah well, you just had us on the wrong day today.
Not forgetting the very frank and heated exchange of views on the coach on the way home!!! It lasted for ages and most of the coach joined in at some stage.
Can't believe it was one of our own fans that got the banner removed, but maybe we're just not supposed to have a laugh at footy anymore. The stewards were probably some of the most confrontational I've seen. Not a brilliant afternoon, but the vodka fuelled evening made up for it!!!
