Roberts himself seemed to fall out with Coley and that is the reason for his antipathy to Accy - it's not about the club.
As for the play off incident, McConville got himself sent off.
It seems unlikely that he is "still useless" - surely his performances for Satange, especially against higher opposition in cup games, suggest otherwise.

I agree. A useful if limited defender who I though coped admirably in a struggling side. As for McConville having watched it back he had to go. As for Senior Westley, g well let's just say I am more than willing to hand him his P45 in person should Preston require my services!! Shame hes an absolute ****** because hes showed at Satanage he can be a great manger, much as I hate both him and the club.

Re: Andy Procter
I agree with Smudge , Mark Roberts DID get Mc Conville sent off.He walked up to linesman , spoke to him, then the linesman approached the ref who then shown the red card. When Roberts played for Stanley he netted an own goal on two consecutive matches, Don't like the man.

Good for him. Macca was absolute rubbish in both play off legs.

Re: Andy Procter
Regardless of what Roberts said to the lino.....McConville raised his hands. In this Andrex era (Overpriced and super soft) he had to go. IMHO of course.

Re: Andy Procter
Roberts is just one of those generally loathsome characters in football. Did a job for us for a certain time but was caught for pace on many occasions; never missed. He didn't respond to Coley's attempts to improve him as a player, just like Byrom, but responded to Westley's methods. They must fall into that rather odd bracket of men that like to be dominated. Ooerr.

Re: Andy Procter
where's that fence for me to sit on?
I'm with everybody here!
When he played for us I could have gone either way with Roberts, I wasn't surprised that he left but nor would I have been surprised had we built a team around him. He was part of a very poor Stanley side that contained such luminaries as Sean Whalley, Jay Harris, Graham Branch, Sean Webb, Robbie Williams etc - and he was the stand out amongst them.
I always liked him since his flowing blonde mullet rose majestically at the back stick to nod home on his debut away at Clitheroe, something we had missed since the halcyonic days of Jonny Smith
But when he left he became the bedrock upon which Westley built his house of iron. He became the epitome of everything one despises about Westley and the teams he builds. Sure, he got McConville sent off and was a reet dirty git away at Satanage, but I'd have him again in a shot. for me he was the best defender in League 2 last season and haasn't looked out of place in League 1.

Re: Andy Procter
When Proccie was substituted at Hillsborough Rob Staton the Radio Sheffield commentator did not know what to make of the Preston fans' reaction.

Re: Andy Procter
So Proccy has survived Westley's cull at Deepdale. I wonder if there are any potential signings there for us.

And that's rather a surprise, Joe. There can't be many other players to choose a captain from!

Re: Andy Procter
it says in the article that he 'has relinquished the armband' as agreed when he signed.
Seems a strange one to me, "come and be captain for a few weeks and then give it up when we sign someone else"
Mark Roberts?

Re: Andy Procter
That's Westley for you. The man's a complete fruitcake. The North End fans are split right down the middle, Half think Westley is the what the club needs, the other half, think (and hope) he'll be sacked before September. Unfortunately all are agreed that the move to Preston has been a disaster for Andy Procter. It's been suggested he may be a summer target for Rochdale.
