Any transfer gossip yet?
Thought I might as well kick off with something....
I seem to remember a rumour at the end of last season linking us with ex-Woking striker Justin Richards. Richards of course went to Peterborough instead, but has now been told he isn't required for next season.
I know it's unlikely that he'd come this far North for the kind of money we pay, but Coley does have a reputation of never giving up on a transfer target.

Sean Doherty comes from Basingstoke doesn't he?

Re: Any transfer gossip yet?
We might have more luck attracting players now. During the last transfer window a move to Accy looked to be direction conference to glory hungry youngsters with any talent. Now we`ve confirmed our league status for next year I think more players might want to start a new campaign with Stanley.
Hope so anyway.

Re: Any transfer gossip yet?
Hate to seem so pessimistic but I don't see any established league players wanting to come here unless they're on their way out.
We obviously can't afford to spend anything & we won't get any transfer fees coming in.
Hopefully we can poach a few talented youngsters from the lower leagues.
Who needs a transfer budget when you've got sell-on clauses.

Re: Any transfer gossip yet?
We'll possibly never spend the kind of money that the fans want us to spend unless we buy unproven but class players from the lower leagues. We are probably better off spending the money on facilities off the pitch that might entice the better players.
But Eric has said the money is available though we wont pay stupid money. We went for players like McClean who commanded a silly figure and most likely silly wages - hasn't done much at Peterborough though has he? Same again with Justin Richards, one good season for Woking and then Peterborough come in with a bid of around 200k! now they are offloading him. He could maybe be a good acquisition but not for fee's anywahere near that. There would be uproar if we spent 200 grand on aplayer who turned out to be crap. I'm not knocking Sean Doherty per se because he has had problems, but a player of his calibre and reputation could have cost us a lot of money, its just a good job he didn't

Re: Any transfer gossip yet?
My understanding is that there would be no fee involved for Richards. Posh are releasing 5 players, 2 of which would command fees. Richards was not one of those players.
I'm not even sure Posh paid money for him in the first place, but I stand to be corrected.

Re: Any transfer gossip yet?
There is a general opinion among Burnley fans that Graham Branch may move to Stanley, although Blackpool may also be his destination.
He does qualify for Stanley because his nationality is scouse

Re: Any transfer gossip yet?
Branch wouldnt get in the team. But if he will be a squad player for 50 quid a week get him. He would be nowhere near the blackpool first 11 either.

Re: Any transfer gossip yet?
Well Branch has been released by Burnley and on Radio Lancashire tonight he said he'd only heard rumours, but no firm offer from anyone. He said he definately wants to carry on playing, so there may be a chance.
He's been a very good player, but didn't play much last season. If we could get the best out of him, I'd definitely have him in our team.

I'd prefer Tugay, if he doesn't sign a new contract (wishing) . He is class!

Re: Any transfer gossip yet?
I gather Heinze is being shown the door at Old Trafford. There's a defender on the market, we need some defenders, what do you think?
