Well done to JB and the team. A clean sheet away from home. A big step in the right direction.

Re: Argyle Match Thread

A morale boosting performance today, from all accounts. Well done, James and the lads. Off topic, I know, but Bohan Dixon scored 2 for Lincoln today in their win. I still think it was a mistake to let him go, as I saw him as a potential up and coming version of Linganzi. Marcus Carver only got about 15 minutes as sub again today, so he may as well be warming our bench instead of doing the same at Halifax.

Re: Argyle Match Thread

Just back from the game. It was a typical game of two halves, they could have been out of sight by half time. They had at least 4 or 5 occasions when a player broke through and headed in on goal. Thwarted by either the linesmans flag or the magnificent Bettinelli. He is a real find, we need to keep him. His save in the first minute was not only the turning point for the game, but more importantly our season. Had we gone behind early again, I could have easily seen us getting thumped 3 or 4.

Second half seemed like a different game, as though JB sent em out saying "they have had their chances, let get at them" from the whistle it was Stanley on the front foot and pushing them back. We had what I thought was a stonewall penalty midway through the half, but the liner bottled it. This result, albeit a point, will hopefully send a massive burst of confidence through the team and this will show on Friday night.

Summing up, I reckon this is the first time I have watched Stanley in the last couple of seasons where not one player had a bad game. The back five were rock solid.

Onwards and upwards - we will play a lot worse than this and get all the points.

One Happy Stanley Fan Tonight.

Re: Argyle Match Thread

It was certainly a well-earned point today although I didn't see it quite like smobile. The first ten minutes were quite hairy but after that I thought we controlled the first half. Yes, Plymouth had chances but we had 2 or 3 near misses ourselves. Their fans were booing their team after half an hour. It was good to see us pressing further up the field and we played some good football. I thought Luke Joyce had one of his best games this season with George Miller in support. Sadly, I'm afraid I cannot see what Peter Murphy adds to the team. His positional sense and his distribution leave much to be desired.

I thought Odejayi was superb. His ability to hold up play, his deft touches, and his headers were superb. But he desperately needs support to take advantage of his efforts. I think McCartan, Hatfield and Gray are too easily outmuscled and outrun. The defence was excellent - Rob Atkinson and Tom Aldred had their work cut out against two big and powerful strikers but they did admirably.

And Rommy Boco? Totally wasted on the left wing. He had an early chance and made a couple of good crosses but there was little else. I travelled down with a Plymouth fan and before the game he said that apart from one good goal Rommy has been largely anonymous.

Re: Argyle Match Thread

Just home from the game and was really pleased with the performance and spirit. The only other thing I want to add is that our boys caused 6000 Argyle fans to boo their team. At Frankley services we bumped into a Plymouth fan on his way home to Manchester and I asked him why they booed. His response was that the manager had made dreadful signings and that they should be able to score against us. That's the power that lil ol' Stanley possess.

Re: Argyle Match Thread

Interesting views of 2 Argyle fans:-
"If i was a Stanley fan i would feel robbed of the 3 points today, they played some good stuff today and used players on the WING which seemed to give them alot more space than are boys who yet again were too narrow.

Stanley were the better team hands down and we were lucky to grab a point this afternoon thanks to Wotton's organisation, Nelson's last ditch defending and McCormick being on his toes.

Honestly, I thought we played the worst team I've ever seen at HP today.

BUT, what I will say for them is, they played with a lot of fight and passion, every player on the Accrington bench was constantly standing up, roaring their team onwards, when our manager and subs were just slouched in the dugout, looking bored and uninterested. If we played with the fight Accrington played with today, we probably could have won".

I like it!
