Re: Away at the Greenies

Bizarre really. Played off the park by the bottom side for 20 minutes. First time we got the ball into the penalty area, we were gifted a (correct) penalty by a needless, stupid challenge. Well taken kick by Nolan.

Re: Away at the Greenies

Very poor first half. Two poor sides with us the slightly poorer. Penalty kick reallythe only point of interest. We have picked up a few silly cards, which is a bit worrying.

Well done Stanley. Played under par and won is a great result in my book, and beat the "new manager" bounce!

Re: Away at the Greenies

Great result for Stanley. Winning ugly gets just as many points as the beautiful game. Three more wins to 50 points.

Indeed. Actually thought the ref was of the decent variety. Cards were warranted. He was MoM for me. Couldn’t give it to the players.

Good on the ref; how many times have we seen such ‘bodily assault’ in the penalty area not given?

Re: Away at the Greenies

Our new keeper used his physicality well to command his area. Old school. Good to see, especially with the new rules at the top end of the game seemingly allowing more robust challenges on the keeper, which will presumably percolate down to our level. By the end I had stopped worrying about them hoisting high balls into the box as he was catching most of them. Made a good save in the first half as well. Great start for the young man, I hope he can maintain it.
