Sean and Jack swapped wings after 30 minutes and we looked far more danderous

Not rocket science even Brett Ormerod mentioned it being difficult to play, for me though Nolan is all left foot looks completely uncomfortable on the right.

Let's hope we don't lose this Adeyoin useless there all he had to do was stun the ball then put it anywhere no just bundled off it goal for them

Re: Barrow thread for those who can’t get there

We were very very lucky to come away with a point we don't look bad defencivily and Andrews looks a decent player just wasted in that role we need to go back to a basic 4-4-2 in my opinion with wide men on the wing that suits their foot and a couple like Conneely and Coyle to tick things over cut out the attempted fancy play that like,s of Liegh try to produce not good enough for that this division is old style win the ball in the middle and go for the corner,s which Barrow did all night good job they left their shooting boots at home we could and should have been beaten.

Re: Barrow thread for those who can’t get there

The stats only confirm your theory andyd.
Corners: Stanley 1 - Barrow 10
At the risk of repeating myself, it's not about individual players, our whole game plan is inadequate - that's down to coaching.
We need to get back to the basics which have served us so well in the past - two fast wingers to get behind their defence & a decent centre forward on the end of the cross.

Re: Barrow thread for those who can’t get there

Totally agree with Andyd, lucky to come away with a point.
Even first half with lots of sideways passing around the back lines of both teams. Goal came from no great pressure, but glad for it.
Second half Barrow realised Stanley couldn’t or wouldn’t hurt them again and start upping the pressure as the game wore on. Their equaliser was coming for twenty minutes or so.
Thought Hills and Quirk were good defensively but we just had little attacking threat even when we did manage to get behind their defence there was rarely anyone to aim at.
Our subs produce little benefit. Adedoyin remains a showboater but I don’t know what’s knocked Longelo off his previous form.

I though Quirk was terrible last year, so to see him impersonate a polished left-back was a pleasant surprise.
But I have to disagree with Andy about Conneelly and Coyle making the midfield tick. There was absolutely no ticking from them tonight. Some games Coyle adds absolutely nothing, and this was one of them.

Re: Barrow thread for those who can’t get there

Two points lost tonight and very nearly all three points!
Looked like Stanley managed to ‘Follow Coley’s Instructions’ in the patient possession play out of defence which meant Stanley were generally in control overall for the first half. However Josh Andrews did not get a decent pass to him throughout the half. We did though, go in at half time a goal to the good……35 yards was it? Or 35 millimeters? Valairian will tell us!
The second half started similarly but the referee was letting far too much physical stuff go and hence the game became very disjointed. Quirk had played really well at left back in a ‘back four’ set up. After our substitutions though Quirk was moved into midfield and we finished up with two wingers playing as full backs. Pickles was added to make three centre backs so really we had completely conceded the midfield which simply allowed Barrow to pin us back into our own penalty box! Corner after corner for Barrow predictably led to them equalizing! In the end we were lucky to come away with a point IMHO!
I cannot understand this refereeing method that, whilst it attempts to keep play going, it allows fouls to go unpunished. This disrupts the play of both sides and when decisions are made they are often made inconsistently.
Stanley should have had a penalty late in the match when Adedoyin was blatantly pushed hard in the back. Lillis could or should have been red carded for coming out to challenge with his studs at head height in Josh Andrews’ face! Andrew’s was flagged though for offside so no action was taken!
In conclusion, we pretty much controlled the game for an hour but conceded territory and allowed our opponents to take total control for the last half hour.
