Bav`s improvement

What`s happened to bav last season he struggled to catch a bus ,but now he`s playing a blinder . Has someone given him a brain transplant ,or has the introduction of wilcox the goaly coach worked wonders

Re: Bav`s improvement

Have to agree that Ian has stepped up to the plate admirably and the improvement is great. Still doesn't command his area as much as I'd like but that's MY only minor criticism.

On the subject of the goalkeeping coach, after having a quick glimpse through the Bury fans forum ( just after he joined Stanley), it seems that they were disappointed to see him leave and the guy was highly rated there. This guy's influence will also have an effect on Martin Fearons improvement !! Another positive move in the club's development.

Re: Bav`s improvement

remember last season when robbie elliott was injured pre-season ian came in and was awesome for 20 or so games.

Then when he came back in he looked shakey.

Pleased that he has rediscovered last seasons early form.

I just hope it continues

Re: Bav`s improvement

It seems obvious that the addition of a goalkeeping coach has helped. Dunbavin still doesn't command his area (as was said above), but he is kicking and positioning himself better than he was.

Yep good point but as i see time & time again as a few have noticed because as u say he physically cant command the box there tends to be a big gap at far end of post - especially on opposition corners, be a good idea to have a defender covering that gap to support bavs a bit & cover the goal line better

Yeh he is a great shot stopper

Re: Bav`s improvement

Best to get a goalie who can do the full job but in league I dont really see many up to that task!!!

Robinson for gods sake is useless at it!!

Personally i still dont think he has confidence in th area, shot stopping yeah the lads brill but i always dread it when the opposition get a corner or free kick near thebox as you just know he`s gonna flap at it, as an all rounder he`s not upto the job, but maybe he will improve, i hope he does.

Keeping is all about confidence above ability, after that save in the top corner at Morecambe his confidence must ov doubled and with the tights he must have thought he was superman and unbeatable! He didnt miss a thing after that save. I say chant his name today, hopefully a clean sheet and Rochdale at home next!

The Whole confidence thing is right through the team, the problem sometimes at Home is if there is a lull in the noise coming from the Clayton End negative comments from the terrace can transpire the players confidence likewise the chants and positive comments can inspire the players
