bids to be made for Ian and Gary

According to one of the confguide scare mongers, CHESTER CITY are about to make a bid for both players.

God I hope this doesn't unsettle them and us.

Re: bids to be made for Ian and Gary

Curle also confirmed that he was preparing a written offer within the next 48 hours for two Accrington Stanley players.

He said: “I have made enquiries about midfielders Gary Roberts and Ian Craney at Accrington Stanley and I have also spoken to Accrington boss John Coleman.

“John is reluctant to let the players go at the moment because his team is doing well and they are pushing for promotion from the Conference.

“But every player has their price and I always like to keep my options open.

Re: bids to be made for Ian and Gary

For Stanley to sell these 2 players the offer would have to be extremely substantial. Can Chester really afford to buy these 2 players? I thought the club has money problems?

However, I believe that Craney's contract is up in the Summer and he could then leave for nothing. Maybe it would be in the club's best interests to sell him now?

I firmly believe that if Stanley were to sell these 2 at this time, then we could all wave goodbye to any promotion chances and if the club are moaning about low attendances now, then the gates would drop through the floor if Stanley were seen to be selling their best players.

As I said before, the offers would have to be substantial to say the least.

Re: bids to be made for Ian and Gary

We do have financial problems, but our chairman is willing to loan us the money.

80k-90k seems to be the figure I'm hearing, would that be enough for them both or just one? Or would Mr Vaughan need to stump up even more cash.

How daft would it be to sell now, to a team we have played & could play in the next season

I'd be gutted & we could kiss bye bye to promotion . . . . .

i think coley said that he wanted atleast 150k for a player for him to atleast
even think of talking about a deal

so your 80-90k maybe laughable

Re: bids to be made for Ian and Gary

I can't see 80/90K being enough for both as half of any money raised by sale of craney would go to aaaaaa....just a sec I will manage it in a mo... al.. al.......alt.... alty ok thats all I can manage!!!!!

Plus as has already been said I would think it would seriously risk our promotion chances to unsettle such a good side in the middle of the season. No promotion..... no big payout for joining the league and that is substantially more than 90k

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Better not happen cause that would wave goodbye to our promotion chase! Hopefully eric has the balls to hold out till at least summer! one goes we could maybe still only just get playoffs, both go got to say 10th looks like a possiblilty again! I would say it is pointless to sell craney cause we wouldnt get enough cash to replace him especailly with 50% going to alty

To be Honest i dont think we will sell at this stage....but maybe this is why coley was looking for a league 2 midfeilder????

Re: bids to be made for Ian and Gary

i didn't think that we could replace McEvilly and Prendergast, when we did I thought we would struggle to get out of the bottom half this year, but I was very wrong. I think that Craney is replaceable although in our last two games when we have failed to win it has been no surprise that Craney has had bad games. Gary Roberts is not instantly replaceable. You would have to have found one already in order to try and replace which is what what happened with that nasty little memory that is Rory Sells-his-arse.

Also people seem to have forgot Boco, Coley and Eric seem to think that we would get money for him. If someone puts in any sizeable offer then that would be extremely good business and we have Brown or Mangan to fill the gap

If £100k is the offer that would equate to £12.5k for each match we have left at home. At £12 a man we are looking to add at least a thousand to the gates every week rather than selling now and possibly throwing away the chances of automatic promotion and with it the extra thousand (£12k per week + add-ons) that would go with staying in the promotion race.

If the player is unsettled and wants to go then what can we do? Sell the ****** and cash in is what, but it would be a backward step.

Anyway it should all be academical because we have issued the hands -off statement. Haven't we?
