If they'd introduced this when we launched our special deal, then it might have been a problem. However, I reckon we've sold most of the season tickets we're going to sell and I can't honestly see us shifting many more over the summer. It's not as if we're going to make a big money signing to tempt the punters , so I'm not worrying too much about it.

Re: Blackburn edge nearer our prices

There was an interesting article about premiership ticket prices on BBC the other day.

They said about Blackburn that their board of directors are worried that Burnley will get promoted and take away supporters who tend to go just to watch the big clubs so they've cut the cost of their season ticket prices to entice more people to watch the club for the entire season rather than on a pay on the gate basis.

They also mentioned that with the money Manchester United generate per game through Sky TV and sponsorship, they could easily afford to let everyone in for free and STILL make a profit.

It was also acknowledged that clubs are aware that people will pay stupid prices to watch the team they support so it's irrelevant how much ticket prices are because the hard core of supporters would still go to home games. The big four don't make their serious money on the crowd attendance, it's from franchising and sponsorship.

We'd all say that football has changed for the worse but who would be upset if Stanley were a top 10 premiership team and went down the above route? I know I wouldn't be!

I've long said that Rovers COULD do that and obliterate the 'floating vote'.

£30m per season just for being in the Premiership?
£5.97m through the gate based on a full house worth of season tickets?

some sort of lottery based system (in fairness it would take years to perfect a system of doing it fairly) and they'd have the town sewn up.

bad news, if burnley goe up as well, with one of these teams being at home every other week could have a serious knock on affect on our tiny attendances

Would have thought that the way that Sky organise the fixtures that you have got to look at a few matches being played on Sunday,Monday,Tuesday Etc. So hopefully we will not lose out that much.....

I will still be rooting for Burnley because I do not like the alternative.

For one thing my other team would lose next season the six points it got this season from playing neighbours Sheffield United.

Come to think of it though didn't they take 6 points off Burnley and an 8-3 goal aggregate?

Rovers have not kicked of a 3pm on a Saturday very often in the past few years, TV rules, but the financial rewards are immense, if the dingles get promoted today its worth £60 million for one season, including parachute payments if they go straight back down
