Bolton Cup game

Started well enough, then a schoolboy type error when Gubbins tries to head the ball back to his keeper from 30 meters. Ugly!

Re: Bolton Cup game

Anothe ugly defensive moment. Conneelly gives away a penalty. 0-2.

Re: Bolton Cup game

IMHO I thought that Stanley played with a lot of credit tonight against an excellent high flying Bolton team. Stanley started well and although we were 2-0 down early on I believe that we’d had the better of the play up to that point. An excellent strike by Henderson brought us back into the match. Bolton took their chances well for their two first half goals though.
The second half started with Bolton showing exactly why they are second in League One with some slick power play but Stanley hung in and had chances but just couldn’t take one! After Seamus was subbed we lost the midfield which allowed one of the Bolton lads to waltz through and finish with a superb strike from outside the penalty box to make it 3-1.
I think 2-1 would have been a fair reflection of the game.
I am as disappointed with only 1100 Stanley supporters turning out. Having said that the Clayton End still sang their hearts out for the whole match.
This performance by Stanley makes me feel optimistic for a realistic challenge to get into a play off position though.
Well done the reds!
ON STANLEY ON🥰👏

Re: Bolton Cup game

Stanley tried, but were out-run, out-muscled, and out-reffed. It wasn’t a boring game but several Stanley players were just not up to their recent standards.
Glad to see young Henderson get a good goal and at least there were no more injuries.
Back to more serious business on Saturday.
