Re: Boston saga continues

his 'plan' didn't really succeed then did it?

let this be a timely reminder to everybody who has knocked the current regime. People who invest their money are doing exactly that - an investment should reap some reward somewhere down the line and if it doesn't then the club will fall very quickly. The man at the helm has to be somebody with an interest in the club, the nouse to succeed on the business front and ideally somebody who has deep enough pockets to dig into them now and again but expect nothing back. Unless you are one of these clubs that has guaranteed high levels of fan based income then you are really are on a hiding to nothing.

Once again may I take this opportunity to thank the current hierarchy for their ability to fund 7 years worth of continued and unprecedented success on a miniscule budget. Not only for the deliverance thereof but also the benefit of not having borrowed chunks of money to chase the dream.

Some things I have been one of the loudest advocators of having borrowed money for - such as the roof, but I would much prefer to be wet and still have a club to come back to in August than to be dry at Boston and looking forward to parks football next season.

Re: Boston saga continues

So after today's hearing are we any closer to knowing whether Boston's game with Torquay is on or off?

Re: Boston saga continues

Boston United have avoided eviction from their York Street ground over rent arrears - for now at least, reports Lincs FM.

Boston will now battle League 2 relegation certainties Torquay United at York Street on Saturday.

There's another thread about people always blaming somebody else on this board at the moment. It's made out to be a recent trend, obvioulsy it existed 45 years ago too.

On 5 March a creditors meeting was told that Stanley owed unsecured creditors over £40,000 in addition to what was owed other clubs, the Inland Revenue and the Ministry of Pensions. The latter debt, failure to pay £458 for player's insurance stamps, particularly upset Lord and Pilkington. Lord recommended closure, and without the support of Lord and Pilkington, the directors saw no other option but to resign from the League. A letter carrying this message was sent to the League headquarters.

Obviously you know less about Stanley then you do about your team.

Re: Boston saga continues

Bob Lord was instrumental in killing Stanley off, because he didn't want another league club on Burnley's doorstep. His opinion that there was no alternative to closure panicked the remaining directors into sending a resignation letter off to the league far too hastily. After that letter was sent off and the club's plight was known, offers of financial help poured in. In the light of this, a second letter withdrawing the resignation was sent. Bob Lord as a member of the league management committee, could have used his influence to call an emergency general meeting of all the other 91 clubs to decide Stanley's fate which at least would have given them a chance of survival in the light of the new offers of assistance. He chose not to, despite saying that he'd do what he could to help Stanley just one week previously. As someone once said, asking Bob Lord to help Stanley was like putting a wolf in charge of a flock of lambs!

If you thought it was me sorry to dissapoint but I have never taken karma off anyone

Everyone will have their opinions about the role Bob Lord played based on what has been written, ( the red & white tinted glasses obviously see things differently than claret & blue tinted ones) but he didn't have an hand in getting them to that position. Thats the bit everyone chooses to ignore and yet part of it has never changed even now.
