Re: Boston saga continues

Sort of related, I read somewhere today that Leeds are trying to pull the CVA trick before the end of the season so they get the 10 points deduction this year as they're down now anyway - interesting call now for Boston who've been trying to stave it off but, if they do, might just wind up on minus 10 and in the Conference in August.

The league wouldn't allow the 10 point deduction for this season.

Is that an actual rule, or just you applying obvious common sense ? 'Cos common sense doesn't normally seem to apply to football administration

Re: Boston saga continues

Apparently Boston went into administration DURING today's game, with the hope that the 10 point deduction would be applied this season and not next. I really hope they don't get away with this. They cheated their way into the league and they've still at it!!

Isn't it ironic that Dagenham have been promoted to take Boston's place next season, when it was they who missed out on a Football League place due to Boston's illegal activities?

Re: Boston saga continues

the rule on administration etc should be clarified to the nth degree. You will probably never see a professional football club go bust ever again, like us, because of the ridiculous rules that allow people like Ken Bates to sell his club to himself under a different guise and therefore waive any debts accrued chasing a dream (not by Bates).

The 10 point rule was origintaed to try to punish clubs for wrongdoings and not being able to balance the books. To mess about DURING a game like Boston allegedly did is taking the mickey out of the governing bodies. The deduction should be enforced. Maybe the rule should be that they will always suffer the deduction next season regardless of where they finish. It shouldn't affect promotion teams as that would be down to cheating - like Boston.

Angry Re: Boston saga continues

Convienient they decided to announce it once they were beaten today. I think they should start in the Conference (or even lower maybe) with -10 the cheats... Fair enough Leeds have done it and they still have a game to play but to announce it 3/4 of the way through a final game of the season that they were loosing is just trying it on - whats the difference say between Wednesday, Thursday or even yesterday if they were going to go into administration anyway??? The difference is that they still had a slim chance of staying up which just stinks. Even in their final hour they try to cheat their way out of financial reprimands. Anyway apparently the football league have to rule on this... lets hope they see sense as they did earlier this season for us and lets welcome Daggers (this time coming up as they should have done several seasons ago) and hopefully Morecambe fans next season.... Bye bye Evans you ******...

Re: Boston saga continues

The precedent was set yesterday by Leeds and Boston have latched on to the pathetic rules. Even though I have different reasons not to feel the same about Boston as you lot it's still unacceptable that clubs can be in a position to cheat the system.

The football league have to act fast to stop this happening again.

Re: Boston saga continues

According to the BBC this has indeed happened

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot..._3/6602943.stm

Pathetic! I feel for the supporters, but the club and its people don't deserve to get away with the things they have. Just wait until Evans turns up at Chester next week.

Hmmmm.... some FA official has claimed that you can't go into a CVA during a match. Maybe justice will be done afterall?

Somebody said yesterday that the points deduction comes in to effect before the next game you play, in which case it would be next season. It all seems very vague, I suspect this could even baffle the clowns who run the football league

I don't think a -10 point deduction will affect any promotion chances they have of getting back straight back in to the league, quite the opposite I think it could make a difference to them getting relegated again. If a club doesn't pay it's players for nearly 3 months they aren't going to attract any good ones for next season. Plus as you say it's 99.9 % likely they will have a new manager.

Re: Boston saga continues

It's disgusting if they're allowed to get away with this, they should be kicked out altogether and sent down the pyramid as low as possible. Just a thought, if that did happen (and I know in reality it's not going to), would the club above them be relegated to the conference to take their place or would an extra one come up from conf north or south? Would be justice if it were the former cos that would mean Mr 'I'm too good for this league' Ince's lot would be relegated after all

I heard a league official say on the radio yesterday that you could go into administration at any time up to the final whistle in the last game.
