Bottle for THE BREWERS !!...Burton Albion thread !.
‘I’ve never had an easy game at Accrington. They might be bottom of the league but for me that’s not a true reflection on them. I’ve watched two or three games and they have had every chance of winning those games.
‘We need to make sure we don’t give them the opportunities to create their own luck.’
Thus sayeth Gary Rowett regarding today's game...I wonder if this is this showing real regard for 'The Reds'....or a bit of sneaky double-speak from 'The Potteries' aimed at promoting a measure of complacency in JB and his squad ?.
One thing is certain though...it will be a tough game for our young players, but having shone against Cardiff they must be raring to go.....and brimming with confidence !! (No comments about my red-coloured spectacles please ! )...
See you there ??.

First thing Stanley need to do is get some advertising boards as close to the pitch as allows and keep moving the towels

This is where we see the character of the players and manager to bounce back and use the dissapointment as a motivation to get a league win.
The lack of goals is concerning

Re: Bottle for THE BREWERS !!...Burton Albion thread !.
The first half was the same rubbish as usual but the the 2nd half it was brilliant to see us have a real go at it! I would almost say we actually looked pretty good for the last 20 mins!
Gutted with the end result but not as gutted as Aldred who looked devastated at the end, he obviously really cares and worked his socks off all game, should have been MOM for me.

Re: Bottle for THE BREWERS !!...Burton Albion thread !.
I agree with Darwen Red' s ananysis.
We played very well in the last 20 of the ninety minutes and for 7 miutes 55 seconds of the 8 minutes added on!!!!!!
James and the boys must be totally frustrated with that result!!!!
How we didn't score was mystifying really!!!!
We did have a real let off with the disallowed goal, right in front of us in the Clayton end, as I thought that the lad who "scored" the "offside" goal with his thigh was very probably over the line when he touched it.
When it was disallowed I was convinced that our luck was turning!!!!
One point from 5 matches doesn't seem fair after today and Burton, unbeaten and now third in the division, did not look anything like a promotion team.
I still think that we were weak in midfield. Our two centre backs, Rob and Tom played really well as did Naismith and the two subs both did well too.
Our luck has to turn soon...."PLEASE".
Keep the faith.
COME ON THE REDS!!!

Re: Bottle for THE BREWERS !!...Burton Albion thread !.
Really disappointed today and I thought it was going to be a day were we had the luck.
For seventy minutes it was the same story,we get pushed back, defend too deep, and struggle to get lads up front or in the game.
The substitutions and going 4-2-3-1 (don't know if it was planned) s seemed to push them back, and there defensive line went from the half-way line to the edge of there box.
What seemed to cause this was Naismith dropping deep, and the willingness of the subs to get beyond him.
This in turn allowed murph and lids to join in and we really had them on the ropes near the end,and we really should have scored a couple.
Young Mahoney once again was the spark, and more senior players should take a leaf out of his book,in terms of being positive and believe in your own ability .
I know I keep harping on about playing too deep, but it really is key in this league,we looked a different team in the last quarter

Re: Bottle for THE BREWERS !!...Burton Albion thread !.
Difficult to push up when we keep pumping 60 yard balls to 2 forwards who are playing against 2 giants and have 2 centre mids who don't pick up any 2nd ball, so the ball just keeps coming back.
Very very poor 1st half and although we we unlucky in the end we could have been 3 down at half time.
Better 2nd half, and had enough chances to win it.
Positives for me Aldred, Atkinson, Liddle, Gray and Mahoney.
Can't help thinking Naismith is more effective wide, Gray needs to be on the ball more up the middle, and Mcarten and Richardson need a 'rest'!

Re: Bottle for THE BREWERS !!...Burton Albion thread !.
Same old ****e in my view ! Not beating around the bush!
Aldred and Naismith the only ones who look like league 2 players! We need to find two league 2 midfielder as I can't even see Joyce and Richardson as conference players ! Both not up to the task and if i was beattie thats two positions id look for! Joyce is a rediculous choice for captain and should be given to someone with more passion and ability aka Aldred or Hunt when he gets back!
Why was Hatfield on the bench ? One of our only better players!
Also think that McCarten isn't not much good and looks like a poor leightweight version of paddy ammond!
When webber comes back and if Beattie can find a striker good enough for league 2 then it will bring a massive threat attacking and also positivity to the team as a lot look fed up!
My team would be:
Italian Stallion
Murphy Aldred Atkinson Wilson
Man with no knees (new midfielder) (new midfielder) Naismith
Webber (new striker)

Re: Bottle for THE BREWERS !!...Burton Albion thread !.
Much improved performance for me best Joyce has played in a long time.
The key for us for me will be if we can get Webber back and let Naismith play in the hole behind him playing 4-2-3-1 - we don't have the players for the direct game we are trying for at the moment but in Naismith and the likes of Hatfield and Mahoney I think we could unlock defenses and start creating some real chances

Re: Bottle for THE BREWERS !!...Burton Albion thread !.
Sorry, but I don't agree with the "unlucky" consensus that seems to occur in this thread....
We were second best for long spells in the game. As others have said, pumping long aimless high balls towards two forwards, who probably don't top 5' 10" ......marked by two six foot plussers. Pointless exercise....hence...... no joy.
Midfield....Only one starting player was trying his guts out.....Naismith. The likes of Joyce & Richardson were totally dominated. Never won any second ball, totally by-passed by Burton's swift and effective passing game.
Defence was fighting a losing battle for the entire game..... I'm surprised they didn't score a long, long time before they eventually did. Totally exposed by the lack of a combative midfield and any shielding.
The young lad Mahoney should start for me....at least he has the positivety to try and make runs and beat his man when he gets the ball.
I've not walked off the Crown as deflated and worried since our early days back in the League.
I'm revising my earlier optimism for this term.
Make no mistake folks....If things don't change and fast, we'll be swimming against the tide for the entire season and unless we can somehow muster a few new quality recruits, 22nd will be an outstanding achievement this term.
Given our lack of finances, Beattie will have to produce some rabbits from his hat. Better still....get reasonably match fit, dust off the boots and lead the team from on the pitch.
