Bournemouth Match Thread

Half-time and no thread. No online commentary? No goals. Coley sent off in the first ten minutes according to a Bournemouth forum. Can only get better...

...and Paul Mullin's just scored for the Shrimps!

Shocking from Stanley, we just didn't want to play. Never really posed a threat to their keeper. I think we could've done with Kee / King starting up front for a change seen as they seemed to know how we'd play.

Re: Bournemouth Match Thread

Bournemouth outmuscled Stanley today, which doesn't often happen, but the ref was blind to a lot of their illegal ploys, and blind to what seemed to me to be two good penalty shouts for the reds.
Make no mistake, Stanley battled well and really deserved at least a draw, but were wasteful in front of goal, unlike in recent matches at home.
Bobby Grant has taken literally Coley's comparison of him to Eric Cantona, but he needs to bring him back to earth, as he tried too many speculative goal efforts when there were other options open.
Jimmy Ryan MOM? What game were the sponsors watching? I thought he played a lot of terrible balls today, although he put in a shift as usual.
A bit of a setback, but I'm sure the players will learn from it.

I think you must've been watching a different game.

Re: Bournemouth Match Thread

We deserved a draw today. We didn't play our best football but that was to be expected, playing a side at the top of the league. The referee was truly awful. I can't put into words how inept his display was. I was disappointed by the performance of Michael Symes and John Miles looked very tired. I hope Chris Turner recovers quickly. The only player that stood out to me was Phil Edwards; I thought he was magnificent from start to finish.

Their fans were plebs.

Come on Stanley.

Re: Bournemouth Match Thread

Yes they were a big strong side, pushed our lads around, lots of cunning moves that fooled a poor referee. A draw would have been a fairer result, but we didnt pose much of a threat in open play. Jalal made a great save from a free kick late on. Good support from the ultras, and a 1800 crowd. All in all not the end of the world, good luck on Tuesday night. I would of found it difficult to pick a man o the match today

Funny, that. I thought he had a very good game, with excellent control and good passing. If his partner up front had been equally sharp then we would probably have won, methinks.
Opinions, opinions.

Yeah I thought he had a poor game. For a tall player he doesn't win headers very often, mostly because of jumping at the wrong time. As with last week, he missed quite a few opportunities to pass to players in better positions to score or move the play forward. If he does see these opportunities he ignores them. I also think he gives away too many needless fouls.

He's done better for us than I thought he would and stepped up well when Mully left, but he does leave me infuriated at times.

Complacent isn't the right word, but it's the first that springs to mind.

Re: Bournemouth Match Thread

I also must of watched a different game !.As a reality check they are top of the league, and there game is based on big experienced pros with a great work ethic.
Acci had five lads under 21,including three in defence. It wasnt these who went missing in the first twenty mins when the tackles were flying in,but the more eperienced ones.
Saying that, acci deserved something from the game and i bet the match stats will back me up.( the ref also missed 2 defo pens).
With regard to the m o m ,it could have been given to any of the deenders who stood firm when being peppered with long high balls for most of the game.
I felt sorry edwards who lost his man for the goal as he had a good game, and i wonder wheither the keeer should have come.

I think u all were watching a different game to me, i thought stanley played their socks off, just that the opposition out muscled & bullied their way thro without any footy talent really also having the ref on side won the goal. I was proud of the lads & really felt for them at the end, real end to end stuff! That ref was well useless!

This was below par after recent preformances. Some of the players looked a wee bit jaded but Stanley were worth a point and Bournemouth were certainly not a better team. I would have gone for Tom Lees as MOM, thought he had a steady game but not spectacular.
