Pearson would be an asset to any Championship side.
If Barnsley are serious, they should expect to pay a fee commensurate with their Championship status, not expect to get a quality player on the cheap.
Is 500k the going rate for a Championship defender?

He isn't a Championship defender. He's never played in the Championship. He's a League Two player. The price is right. Get over it.

Always been a believer playing games us the best way a player to develop.

Spoken like an agent.
To misquote Oscar, some folk know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

Agreed mate.
I don't understand the logic of some people.
Keep him - by offering a new contract and a beefy pay rise.
Probably cheaper than finding an equivalent replacement.
If not give him a resounding thank you for services rendered and wish him all the best.

Come on then Exile. What would you pay as a Championship Manager for an untried full back in League Two - but with your rose tinted glasses put down.
Football is a business get over it.
And how about considering the lad's feelings ?
Coley and Jimmy will that's for sure.

That's why you aren't involved in football - just the fantasy version.

Re: Bradford City ponder move for local lad Matty Pearson
Has the £500k price tag been confirmed?
Seems a fair deal for Stanley if true, although getting a sell on clause may be part of the fee?

If your arrogance is an example of those 'involved' in football, I'm just glad I'm not.
I'll limit my involvement to supporting Stanley.

Re: Bradford City ponder move for local lad Matty Pearson
I can only see him playing centre back in the championship if he gets there.
Leicester paid £1m for a non-league player in the championship not so long ago, and Pearson has the potential to improve with better players at a higher level.
I was telling Bradford fans whatever they paid for Shay it would be double for Matty, and it seems I could be wrong about that, it may be treble in the end.

tom aldred was a division 2 player before he signed for championship blackpool. he didn,t do too bad in a really poor side. matty who i think is a similar player would do well in the championship and therefore a decent fee is required. if they didn,t rate him they would not be interested in the first place.

Re: Bradford City ponder move for local lad Matty Pearson
Think Mattys more of a defensive/attacking fullback.
Doubt he would play CB,even Coley never fancied him as one.
His natural instinct is to effect the game, and playing at CB sometimes that drags you into areas that causes problems.
He will have more time on the ball in the championship, therefore your technique gets tested more than your battling qualities.
Big jump two divisons
