Re: Bristol Rovers Away Thread

I said we had a decent squad when we had made our abysmal start to season Football19, I honestly think were as good as anyone in a division were no outstanding sides are this season, only thing we lack is consistency i believe, Good audio from J.B.

Re: Bristol Rovers Away Thread

Just think if we could have bagged a couple of wins in those first ten games,we would have been right in the mix

I doubt it - there were not many of us there. With the exception of Tom Aldred and Laurence Wilson, I regret to say that Stanley were ..... well, let's just say not at their best. We were outrun, outthought, outmuscled, outclassed, outplayed - just about out everything. But ... Bristol allowed themselves to be outmurphyed. And, ultimately, that's all that matters. The 3 points are ours.

We're one point and two GD worse off than we were at this stage the year we went to the playoffs. We did then win six of the next eight though ........

On Stanley On !!

We managed a blank sheet thanks mainly to the woeful finishing of our opponents but also thanks to some great blocks, mainly by Tom Aldred.

I must have been watching a different game, only two players performing doesn't add up to beating a team like that away.Bowerman got some great crosses over and Mingoia is that small you obviously didn't see him all over the field, down the left wing one minute and defending at right back the next. The stats look good for them but the shots on target were mostly rubbish and off target mostly abysmal I thought a draw would have been a fair result but the smash and grab in Beattie time was very welcome. When Webber and Molyneux came on the team came alive.STILL BUZZIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Resting in Peace

Re: Bristol Rovers Away Thread

Another sleepless night, feeling nice and relaxed but steroids and chemo from my second session yesterday buzzing through my brain and bloodstream! Just thought I would give a big thank you to Dan for his great service on the live text thingy, where I just couldn't bring myself to see what the clacking noises were signifying inthe last few minutes. Instead I just watched the bbc live scores, and Mrs Red thought I was having a heart attack when she heard the strange sounds coming from deep in my throat when I saw 0-1 come up at the death. Couldn't believe it would be Super Peter Murphy again until I went back to see Dan's glorious news, coward that I am! Must try to get on the Crown on Saturday.I think there's a good chance!

Re: Bristol Rovers Away Thread

Just for RR and Chubbyman - to clear up a point on statistics:
BRFC had 54% of the game to ASFC 46%
Shots BFRC 19 ASFC 7
On target BRFC 2 ASFC 5
Corners BRFC 6 ASFC 2
Fouls BRFC 6 ASFC 8
Must thank the BBC for these stats.

If you can't get the shots on target then you aint going to win games, wasn't this the problem ASFC had in the first 10 games of Beattie's reign? 72% shots on target ratio that ASFC had last night shows that BRFC must have made more blocks or saves than Betinelli and the defence did for ASFC.

At the end of the day, all that matters is not how we play as a team, but scoring more goals than the opposition and preferably the opposition scoring nil. I will take a scrappy 1-0 win every match if it means we stay a football league team.
Bring on the Shrimps on Saturday and another 3 points.

Re: Bristol Rovers Away Thread

Putting things into perspective,Bristol had won their last four home league games and give Birmingham a right game in the cup.
Apparently They played some decent stuff despite the iffy surface, but it was all in front of us and rarely got behind us (hence the number of long shots not on target).
They threw the kitchen sink at us in the last quarter but we held firm (apparently ! ).
Looking forward to Saturday now !!!!

Re: Bristol Rovers Away Thread

Fantastic result lads. As others have said with alot of rival games getting postponed it looks like a massive 3 points.

Roll on Saturday. Dare I say 3 points and into the top half??? That really would be remarkable considering our start.

Craig Roddan is injured aparently and has returned to Liverpool, which is a shame.
