Damn good job, too! Murphy nearly cost us the game today. He "lost" his winger 3 times early on before getting tighter on him for most of the first half, but couldn't cope with him at all in the second half. Of course the joke that is the M.O.M. award these days always seems to go to our worst player!
Charlie Barnett for me was excellent, bringing calm and creating openings all afternoon, and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. A great goal from Micah, showing exactly what we have been missing all season, using pace and quick feet to beat defenders in the box followed by a great finish. He battled well, too, throughout. Deano and Long were great yet again, apart from showing a bit of panic now and again when under pressure, and giving the ball straight back to the opposition too often. The new lad from Bournemouth didn't get many chances to show what he can do, but he certainly doesn't have any pace. McIntyre was much improved from his earlier games. Great to bag the 3 points, but it wasn't the most convincing show.

Played well, Longy was my man of the match today, twas a game of 2 halves, Stanley bossed first 45,Think Bristol must got a real roasting at half time, they had a very good winger, dark lad. also fer me thought our midfield today was much more effective wi proccy being suspended.

Re: Bristol Rovers match thread.......
Talk about a game of two halves..............
1st half for me, is the best 45 mins I have seen us play this season, some superb pass & move moments. 2 great goals, WHAT a finish by young Evans as well as Longy.
Maybe Evans could be the clinical man we have been looking for?!
2nd half, complete opposite, hoof ball at times. Thought we could have done with more im the Midfield as they where shattered, HUGELY pleasing with the result though
Thought Barnett had a good game, as did Long and Murphy in the 1st half.
Sending off was expected, talk about "taking one for the team" , to be fair their left winger was a class apart.
Midfield 3 of Hughes, Joyce and Coid also played well, though they looked knackered after 70 mins, which wasnt a surprise.
Special mention for the Bristol fans, who travelled in great numbers today, despite the distance, had some good chats, credit to their club.
Hopefully a turning point in our season.
On Stanley On !

Re: Bristol Rovers match thread.......
Enjoyed the game so much more today than last time out. Great first half performance from back four. Dodgy second half specially Murph who seemed to fall apart after MOM anouncement ! Evans looks a lively player and a bit different to the target man strikers that we're used to. Charlie Barnett was my MOM. Think he can learn from Hughes who loooks like he could have the nous to be a steadying influence in midfield.

Re: Bristol Rovers match thread.......
Decent performance though could have been made a hell of a lot easier if we had used both flanks. In the last 30 minutes Evans was left practically unmarked down the left hand side and it still wasn't being sent that way. Thought he had a cracking game but was then cut out by our own players. Doesn't look like a midfielder to me though I'd much rather have Amond in that position and Evans up front.
Winnard did a job at centre back but honestly my first choice pairing would still be Hessey and Long every day of the week.

Re: Bristol Rovers match thread.......
just seen the Murphy sending off and to be honest I'm appalled by it!
the ball was long gone and he changed direction to mercilessly chop the guy down. A shoulder charge was suffcient there to knock him off line to chase the ball and Merf can consider himself lucky that he wasn't injured - or else more would have come of it. Had that been in the Premier League on telly they'd have slaughtered him for it.
Beyond that a good win against a side that are struggling to find some kind of form. That Brizzle team is too good to stay as crap as they are. Two belting taken goals as well.
Good to see the crowds slowly creeping up as well despite the indifferent home form.

I can't answer for Sam, but for me, Deano has to be at full back if only to keep Murphy away from the full back position, and I can't see Peter playing midfield either with all the other options we now have.
