Britcliffe's Split Personality

Our old mate Peter Britcliffe has joined the rally call for the people of Accy to get on the Crown in tonights Telegraph:

"One of the things that is tremendously important now we've got league football back after 38 years is that it stays there and the and the only way we can do that is by getting behind the club and supporting them"

This is the man who, when asked if he would be on the Stanley for the pre-season friendly against Blackburn remarked

"Will I hell as like, and if I did I'd be supporting Blackburn"

All together now....HE'S FAT, HE'S ROUND....:engsmil:

Re: Britcliffe's Split Personality

So the Leader of Hyndburn Borough Council has been quoted in tonights Telegraph branding Accrington Stanley's support at the Fraser Eagle Stadium as appalling has he? I wonder if it's as appalling as his council withdrawing their sponsorship of said team mid-season or the fact that the only time he goes to a football match he prefers going to watch Rovers
(a quote from PB in tonights Telegraph - "I really would say to people that if we're to have a football league team in Hyndburn then the people do need to get behind them") Surely this must start with the leader of the council attending??????????? or am I missing something here?

Re: Britcliffe's Split Personality

Generally I like to read these articles before commenting, but I’m not over until Friday so I’ll trust in the quotes given on the site.

If what Mr Britcliffe is alleged to have said is true then it’s a **** poor attitude and he should consider his position as the Leader of Hyndburn Council. I love the Town, (I was born in Church) and I love the Club, fortunately the club is outside this gentleman’s influence, the town unfortunately speaks for itsself.

Should this gentleman want to make amends and support the Club both by putting his hand in his pocket (?) and by him making his presence felt on the terrace, then I’ll welcome him and he can stand with me. If he hasn’t got the commitment to the club or the balls for it, he should keep his trap shut.

Do I sound a little floral in this?

If I remember correctly, the council were forced to withdraw their sponsership by the moaning burgers of Hyndburn complaining about the waste of council tax. Especially the labourite side of the council, who are the most miserable set of t*****s anywhere.
