Re: Burnley friendly
I wonder what the turn out will be? I was hoping for loads, but a few people yesterday said they were thinking nearer the 1000 mark.

I hope I'm wrong but I think unlikely to be no more than 2,000. The hierarchy at Burnley are doing there best to rally the troops, even to the extent of already announcing that Nugent will make his debut. It's difficult to call

Re: Burnley friendly
Posted via Mobile Device If the attendance is 1000 or 10000, what should that matter and wouldn't be no dis respect, all helps and would be a huge boost to the fund kitty and a great move forward to clearing the debt in space of an hour or 2,

No disrespect meant in anyway SM Just my mind ticking/thinking, 1000 gate = £X, 2000 gate = 2 x £X and so on Like you say it all helps, but the sooner that thermometer reaches £308K The sooner we can all start to breathe a sigh of relief and then brace ourselves for the next Stanley crisis, because lets face it, it will only be around the corner

Re: Burnley friendly
Somebody posted the comment below on one of our message boards, which is probably the best summing up I've seen. There has been a healthy discussion of those who take option 1 and those who take option 2. An interesting point is right at the end, not a lot of people were aware of it, and probably explains better why the offer has been made by our chairman and manager.
Quote:
Accrington have a big job on their hands raising this money, and their fundraising people will need to keep their own morale up, if they are to make a half-decent fist of it. I guess it helps knowing that a neighbouring club is providing assistance.
There are much bigger clubs in 'Lancashire' that could help perhaps..
- these are global brand names who normally don't miss a trick when it comes to Google Page Ranking...you know who I mean...
How can they assist 'Accy' though, when they have hundreds of millions of pounds of debt themselves ?
Put simply, I think that fans are in one of two camps on this one...
Firstly, that as supporters we are part of one big football 'family'.
We help each other out. We are part of the best football competition in the world, which is rich in history and tradition, and we should try and preserve it. Many other countries are envious of our league set-up and try to emulate it.
There are many examples in recent years of this football 'family' helping out clubs in difficulties [eg. Brighton and Bournemouth]. I needn't go on.
Or secondly, some fans simply look at it as an accountant would, in 'profit and loss' or 'balance sheet 'terms...ie. if a club is struggling financially, just close them down.
I know which camp I'm in.
Finally, remember the 'Orient Match' ? What might have happened that day... ?
Pre May 2009 and Wembley..apparently our own football finances were dire at that time...For Accrington Stanley read............Burnley.
