Thought we played very well, never gave up n testament to the reds, the dingles were running the clock down last 5 mins. oer 3000 on as well. would also say on chances created,a draw wouldn't have been unfair.
We did fine, if not quite as fluent up front as on Wednesday. Windass was the pick for me, again, all action and excellent prompting and looking like he is going to be a threat to opposing goalies when he really gets going. Thought Lidds did well against a pacy, tricky winger, rarely allowing him to get a good cross in, making great tackles rather than standing off. Rhino was his usual tough, uncompromising self, looking comfortable on the right, which looks his natural position to me. Bowerman frustrates me, never getting sufficiently involved and letting the game pass him by, in contrast to Mingoia who never stops pressing and closing down. Lee Wort didn't get many chances to impress, though he brings a physical presence up front which we otherwise lack. he had one moment when he played Brett in with a nice touch, but nothing came of it. For what it's worth he was banging the goals in during the pre-match shoot-ins. With his record, admittedly at lower league level, he obviously knows where the goal is, and for me, being a gambler, I would take a chance on him rather than with Brett, who JB seems to fancy. I would have started Wort, as 20 minutes game time seems a bit mean considering how far he has travelled to show what he can do.
Over to you, Football19!
Come on Redraine you must be on a wind up !!!.
It's the poorest I have seen Windass, granted he strikes a good ball, but you obviously don't watch the game when they had the ball !.
Even his corners were at best average.
You can't float about and wait for the opposition to turn over possession, you will get punished.
Never saw his win a tackle or header(although he spent a lot of time adjusting his hair band !!!)
Now the positives,he's a good player and hopefully he learns from today in terms of winning battles, then letting his talent shine.
Interesting trying Hunty in centre mid,did a lot better than I expected, but we missed joycy (probably windlass did as well )
Burnley were a lot tougher opposition than blackburn, hence my comment on winning battles.
Buxton and in particular Atkinson were immense and blunted there attacks.
The keepers kicking game was average, indeed I nearly caught three and I am in the main stand !!
Good workout but if you leave two men up top, someone has to tuck in or we become out numbered in the middle, again this caused young windass numerous problems with lads running off him and getting at the back four.
Agree about Brett tho,we need that hold up player.
We held them reasonably well until all the subs come on which always has an effect until they get up to speed, thought the young cb did well along side Tom,and the trialist left back seems to have something about him.
Competition all over the field now, happy days
Great play by the Reds again some nice slick passing to get the ball up field but the final 18 yards frustrated Stanley, Burnley defended very well in the final third of the pitch, best chances fell to Windass, two power shots on target from in play and a peach of a free kick which brought a super save from the Burnley keeper, meanwhile at the other end Deano performed an heroic effort to stop a powerful goal bound shot, all in all a good game to watch, a 3,000 plus attendance, the team looking good for the oncoming season, happy days
,but we missed joycy (probably windlass did as well )
Agreed! Joyce was immense on Wednesday and I don't think the midfield worked quite as well today. If you think Windass had a poor game he's going to be one hell of a player if and when he only has an average one!
First chance to watch t'Stanley in pre-season. Picked a helluva game to attend.
My impression was, if JB has them playing like that during the season, it could be helluva exciting one. Sat next to a couple of Burnley supporters who will not go and watch at the Turf due to not liking the Premier League, hope they saw enough to come and watch the reds. Looked some interesting triallists in the second half, but maybe not given long enough, however, Tuesday night may change all that.
Watching today made me decide, I am going to buy that season ticket, after all, I will only miss a maximum of 4 matches over christmas. P.S. quite like the new 2nd strip

Addendum, the views I express on here are my own, if you don't like them: TOUGH!

I suppose I should have said he had a poor game in terms of what he's capable of -- I will give you that one
Play 4-3-3 and with him ,Joycy and Hunty holding, get a hold up type centre forward and now were talking !!!,maybe Beattie has other master plans ,but things are slowly developing , very opomistic
Enjoyed the game today, ok perhaps Wednesday's game was a little more entertaining due to the fact that more goals were scored but on the whole & from what I've seen so far Stanley are going to pose a serious threat to league 2 in tomorrow
