Re: Burton Thread

Too many changes for me which meant a lack of rhythm & cohesion from back to front

First Half we were poor, distribution was woeful, back four looked all at sea at times with the exception of Kevin Long who just does the simple things but does it effectively and if the Brewers had had their shooting boots on they would have been out of sight by the end of the half.

Second half with the introduction of Jimmy we started to play and then when Proccy came on it then added a bit of steel & purpose allowing the ball to be fizzed about creating a few half chances.

So nice to see DJ get a run out and he created havoc with their right back and as Smudgie said and what a ball he put in from the free-kick.

Nice to get a point to keep the run going and perhaps deserved with the Red's much improved second half performance there was certainly food for thought.

Re: Burton Thread

A good point from the second string today.Totally agree about Murphy he had a very poor game and to say 9 out of the 11 starting are fighting for a bench place in the play offs I thought Boulding and Lindfield were weak, they didnt win challenges and lost balls at every opportunity. In the second half we did look more composed and to be fair if the subs had been used sooner it was a winable game.
Turner looked good and provided a great cross for Deano's goal . Dean played well and I thought Smyth had a decent game. Super Ultras loud as ever and a draw was a fair result. Good to see young Burto coming through a little shakey at times but maybe one for the future.

Re: Burton Thread

A side note most impressed with the set-up at Burton in terms of how new stadiums go

If we were to get something similar eventually that will do for me

Re: Burton Thread

I think Pendle Red's summed it up pretty well. There was some wayward shooting from the Brewers in the first half. Had a couple of those gone in it would have been a different story.

Both keepers deserve a mention. Bavs dealt with two one-on-ones and came out on top each time. And Adam Legzdins generously applauded the Stanley fans after the match before being presented with Burton's player of the season award on local radio. He came over well in his post-match interview.

Deano did well to get into an umarked position for his goal and his shot was a beauty. But the BBC report is somehow crediting it to one of the Burton subs!

Re: Burton Thread

Went to Burton. Agree with Pendle Red's summary. Glad Zola went off with slight hamstring pull as he looked a real threat. Hurt himself as he he scruffed a shot as Bavs put him off with a good closing down run off his line. Thought Bavs did really well for us. although largely a resererve side it was great for the boys to maintain the unbeaten run... good psychologicallyto maintain the run into the play offs. Turner did good too. Ultras were fab once again. We would have stayed on singing until Sunday if the stewards had let us. They were happy to let us stay on a bit but it was the interfering Bobbies again who told them to shift us!! Great for the team to walk on at the end and show their appreciation for the fans. What a combinbation we have. Let's hav a good turn out at Stevenage although I appreciate that it will be very difficult for some to make it with the daft KO time...Sky tv!!! then lets raise the roof at the home leg!!! Really looking forward to it.
