Re: Cardiff match thread

Have to agree with Sam,our game plan seemed to be sit deep, don't let them get behind us and keep our defensive shape of two narrow banks of four.
We never got after them, indeed we let them have the ball upto the last third and at times,it must have felt like a training session for them.
You practice defence v attack on a regular basis, and when we got the ball, most of the time,we went long, give it away and they started again.
Positives,we kept our shape(far too deep tho),the keepers performance and finally young Mahoneys debut.
For a 16 year old,he looked our most effective offensive player.
Was told about him prior to his debut and he didn't disappoint - potentially the best talent to come out of the youth system !!!!

well go on name these better players. if it takes a few games to get into it then well worth it in my view.

Keep the faith and really get behind James and the boys Saturday next.
I'll be there Saturday, from Darwen

Explain how yeh come to that conclusion, 8 who played last night were members of the side that won the championship, so yer talking through yer arse to me, saying we will play stronger teams in the league this season.

Hubby and i agree with Cashy. We reckon that if Stanley had those 8 players ( if they were regular members) in their team this year they would be playing league 1 next year.

Never saw anyone from our Clayton End position, But did hear today Snake n his oppo slithered by..........also heard one who was in situ before Snake was also yon, but that bit sounds a bit much to me, also heard one who has recently departed was in hiding in suit n club tie. life is so full of little surprises. Though did think we saw Lou on Clayton End?

Not sure he isn't better than anyone sat on the bench in his position. Loan players are important to the club, treat them badly and you run out of clubs who will lend them to you. I seem to remember Kevin Long having a nightmare when he first arrived.

Re: Cardiff match thread

It's hard to put a judgement on it in such a cup tie but we could of had a chance tonight.

Keeper was superb and looks really good ! Really really need to keep him for a decent size loan!

The defence (mainly Aldred) was very solid but I lost count of how many times Atkinson couldn't even pass to a player in red or even up the line. Luke Clarke was awful at right back and in my opinion he is awful altogether and not a football league player! Yes , he's not a right back but last night he couldn't pass on the floor and he had numerous chances to cross the ball in but couldn't beat the first man or it beat the last man in the stand !

Richardson except from his chasing of the ball in the last ten minutes was awful again. You can tell him and Joyce don't like working together and what's even worse they can't. He was absolutely terrified most times to even put a challenge in and didn't even get close to pressure Cardiff players who loved having all that space. He can't cross the ball either , I remember one cross where it was frankly embarrassing.

Naismith just carries the team attacking wise and just gets frustrated at times how slow others react around him when he's trying to create ! He definitely puts the effort in and hopefully when webbers back , with them two at full pace it'll cause defenders in league 2 massive problems! Can you imagine if we still had Rommy, him and Rommy on both wings would of been awesome this season!

The problem is our attack , we have no good wingers except Naismith as the lad with no knees can't run and take on defenders to save his life and we have no one who can shoot on goal or put a good cross in either ! Forward wise we need another league 2 striker , with another an webber we at least have a positive forward position!

You just look at squads in this league and we are massively behind them !!

Wet here's only so much JB can do without any dollar , I'm just hoping we can get some from somewhere to get a few players on wages or loans !
