Correct. I don't have a season ticket because, being down south, I can only get to about 4 or 5 home games a season - and I won't be at the Newcastle game. But the average home gate is about 1600, if I'm right. 300 of those are away supporters. That leaves 1300 Stanley supporters;
After the season ticket holders, the question therefore is how you prioritise ticket sales without involving massive bureaucratic expense. It would seem to me that the best and most efficient way would be to allow every season ticket holder an additional ticket because most will invariably know someone who does turn up for most games but are not season ticket holders. OK - some will go to people who don't normally go to games, but that's the price to be paid.
That should take care of about 1000 tickets, leaving about another 2000 available, allowing for the stuff going to Newcastle. I'm quite sure that the balance of 300 hard core supporters should be able to obtain a ticket, providing the tickets do go on sale at a proper time and not something silly like 9am on a wednesday morning. I would also suggest you have 2 queues - people with local ID and possible evidence of attending prior games and the rest.

thats the point i made earlier on this thread and have had a pm off someone so i will do that for them as i know they do attend the games if im allowed more than my own ticket, and thats only right,i've been asked about ticket from work mates today who dont go to watch stanley only because it newcastle but they'l have to wait,we're a family club and look after our own first

My thinking on this is, about 800 Season Ticket holders, and about 120 Donny travellers, many making the trip were Season ticket holders. So less than 900 priority tickets, before the general sale.
I didn't go to Doncaster because I'm a big wuss, I am up at 5:30am and didn't fancy 4 or 5 hours sleep. I think the supporters at the Doncaster match deserve priority tickets, simply because their support lifts the players, and without it Doncaster could well be playing Newcastle. I have been to one or two away games in the past, and it's obvious the noise generated by the Ultra's does, in-fact lift the teams performance.
I'm just saying the hard core, Season Ticket holders and regular away supporters should get equal chance with cup tickets.

Agreed mick!! Ithink you'd find that the majority of who went to donny are season ticket holders anyway, jess and most of the ultras who go home and away are as far as im a were, theres over 360 st holders on the clayton end so everyone who attends home games knows some one who's a st holder so their shouldn't be a problem for thoses who arnt in getting a cup ticket

Re: Carling Cup -v- Newcastle!!
I'm an exile who normally only makes games down this way (I've been as far as MK) but am unsurprisingly hoping to be able to make one of my rare trips to the Crown for this one. If there is a ticket shortage I would happily concede priority to season ticket holders and people who went to Donny (if that's provable) but not so much to someone who makes a first ever appearance at the Macc game.
I think adult season ticket holders should be able to buy 2 before they go on open sale, students, youths and the kids on freebie STs just 1.
It would also be nice if OSC membership counted for something .... although as I didn't renew until today I wouldn't expect to benefit on this occasion.
But I'm not sure it will be that tight. I'm sure the toon will sell their allocation, but are disinterested Accringtonians and local neutrals really going to find a midweek 2nd Rd League Cup tie against a probably half-strength Newcastle that much more attractive than a 4th round Saturday FA Cup tie against Fulham ?
Anyway, I hope I can get two tickets ... in which case I'll see you there ... and that it sells out after I've got mine

Re: Carling Cup -v- Newcastle!!
Can't see any problem providing club distribute fairly, fer any regular, season ticket or not, like others have said approx 1300 regulars, probably 1500 fer the geordies, that leaves around 1700 fer the wannabees, those who went to donny who aren't season ticket holders should have NO problem? even at stanley.

I dont have a solution Im afraid (wish I did!), but I think its fair to say that given our gates, then home fans should all be able to aquire tickets without too much difficulty.
Dont forget that now we have an online booking facility, so buying tickets should be easier and quicker (I know Im tempting fate with this remark lol), so lets not panic too much eh

haha i didnt mean it like that ... ive been a season ticket holder for a few years and the season i dont get one we get a massive game! i just dont wanna lose out to some fans that arent even stanley fans, if you get me?

Re: Carling Cup -v- Newcastle!!
The prize money is awarded by the Football League. The winners of the League Cup won £100,000 and the runners-up won £50,000. The losing semi-finalists each took home £25,000.
If the match was at St James' Park the gate reciepts would be shared, there is more chance the attendance will be higher at the Crown Ground instead of St James'.

Re: Carling Cup -v- Newcastle!!
Having grown up in the days when Wembley was Newcastle's other home ground, I was ecstatic that the only other 'magic' name in football was coming to the Crown. Thinking it was to be on a Tuesday I was toying with logistics of getting 'up home' until remembering I had something on down south next day. Then ecstatic about sky coverage until realising I had a job to do in Southampton that night. Now I realise no one could give a rat's bottom at my plight but before jealousy destroys me just wanted to wish everyone a crackling night on the 25th.

From "the club won't be getting any more of my money" to sponsoring a player in four short months...ah, the magic of the cup!
