Yes a vastly experienced sort of youth/reserve player should be a competent partner for Williams. Is he a scouser by any chance?

If we are taking players on loan from bigger clubs they will either be older (too old?) players past their best or young players eager to impress

Re: Charlton defender set to sign

Charlton Profile:

"Aswad Thomas
Topping the appearance charts for the reserves last season, it was no surprise that athletic defender Aswad Thomas was awarded a professional contract.

The speedy left-footer made himself virtually a permanent fixture for the club's second-string side, and in his 13 outings he also managed to get himself on the scoresheet.

Exceptionally quick and strong in the air, Thomas also made 17 appearances for the U18s, his two goals for the younger side proving his increasing threat from set-plays.

Having established himself in the second XI, the Westminster-born central defender will have half an eye on the first-team ranks this term."

To be a threat from set plays though the corners etc will presumably need the trajectory and velocity to reach his head which on last night's showing could be a problem.
