We clearly haven't got 50k.
We've got Charnock until the end of the season, then we have to try to sign him. He can't move to another club while he's here on loan. Can he?

Surely he has to be recalled before sold and from this it seems he can't be recalled:

Standard Loans: a Standard Loan (long term loan) must be the time between two Registration Periods, and can be for half a Season or a full Season. Any recall clause requiring the early termination of a Standard Loan can only be included in a full Season Standard Loan and this can only be activated during the second (January) Transfer Window.

He signed a 3 yr contract in 2007

Charnock reveals Accrington Stanley target (From Lancashire Telegraph)

looks like we did offer money for him but in the end just opted for a loan move! makes you wounder if he does want to sign for us full time

Would say yet again that we just could not afford to pay his wages, so he thought he may as well stand out at Stanley and then get a decent move, rather than try to get himself a move in Jan, when - other than the odd Tevez - you do not often get a good deal.

Fair play to him. He's got eighteen months left on a contract from a League One side and he'll hope that he can impress the Posh people with his performances here before thinking of moving down a league.

Seems we had the resources after all! When I suggested in another thread (the seats, the facts) that the new plans for seating would enable the club to divert money to strengthening the team in January, I was accused of 'wishful thinking' by a certain nut on this forum. We all get sucked in by the constant theme of a club with no money and all that. It's Eric's plan. Fair play to them tho, this proves that when they see a player that'll improve the team, they will try to find the ways and means to get him if it's possible

It doesn't mean that we offered the asking price for him. We have been known to offer way below the asking price for players before, and been laughed at for doing so.

Re: Charnock

We've no way of knowing how much or little they were planning to offer because it hasn't been made public, but it doesn't alter the fact that the club were looking at ways to do a deal in spite of what the doom mongers say
