Re: Cheltenham Town Match Thread.....
If Simpson continues wi form like hes showing, hes gonna command one hell of a fee imho. agree wi the bulk of smudges assesment, Think Buxton could possibly do a job in midfield, i thought twas worth trying hunty, but it dont work so needs reverting back to full back in my view. Buxton played really well further forward against leeds in second half last week i thought. Today whilst i n those around me thought it was a very soft penalty, whats occured to us, is the fact no Cheltenham player argued the toss oer it?? which at that time of the game wi em winning, you would think n appeal was certain? perhaps they saw summat we didn't??

Re: Cheltenham Town Match Thread.....
Perhaps we have the wrong right back in midfield.
For me it'd be worth letting Buxton have a crack in place of Hunt.
Has Proccy signed for anyone yet?

Re: Cheltenham Town Match Thread.....
Despite the result today was one of my favourite away days. Good craic with Everton fans going down..massive respect, great banter and free pints off Brighton and Sunderland fans in Birmingham and friendly locals in Cheltenham Spoons.
On the pitch,...it's going to be another long slog. Yes we missed a 92nd minute penalty....Naismith trying to be cocky the Scotch ****...but that would have been daylight robbery. Absolutely shocking.....we looked knackered despite it being only the 3rd game and why the **** did Beattie not start Mingoia when by far and away hes our only player to chase down and make things happen as evidenced when he came on!!!
Dreadful. Again Beattie never clapped the travelling fans. Disgraceful all apart from Mingoia and Simpson. Guaranteed same bollocks post match...worked hard, Im proud of them, They're why I took the job, etc blah blah blah.
Nicky Hunt....a Prem class right back....so thats where he should play. Simples.
It's going to be a long season. Fingers crossed.

Re: Cheltenham Town Match Thread.....
I thought from kick off yesterday 3-5-2 doesn,t suit Aldred and Wlnnard lost souls Atkinson immense at the back up front Gray needs 2 wingers playing up with him Alibi why play a loanee when we have squad players on the bench. We were very poor up till 75 mins when we went 4-4-2 Bowerman by his own admission was,nt fit last year looked really sharp better front line Naismith and Mingioa causing problems down the flanks and Gray with lovely lay off for our goal. Ok sucker punch for their 2 but we were the better side those last 15 minutes and we really should have come away with a point. We do miss Joyce imho seasons shape up over first 6 to 8 games so let,s hope we now start playing like that last 15 for more of the games. PS., Atkinson should keep his place even at 4-4-2 looks really solid also have to agree about Hunt far better at right back.

Re: Cheltenham Town Match Thread.....
Goalscorers are in short supply for the team and is the one part of the team that needs strengthening. Hunt playing in CM is not a good idea, Murphy is going to be badly missed not just for his goals but for the fact he was good in CM. Think its going to an even harder season than last year, if Naismith is sold where are the goals coming from?

Re: Cheltenham Town Match Thread.....
Have to disagree about it being harder n last season, its never easy fer Stanley, but it certainly won't be harder in my view, agree a goalscorer is needed, but needed by most of the football league, wi our funds we will be lucky to get one, so more a case of what we got, we never had a good un last season goal wise.

Think it will be harder to replace the goals from midfield that came from Murphy, he scored some extremely important goals last season. I don't see where goals in the current team come from beyond Gray and Naismith

Can't dispute he scored some very important goals, but not in the first 12 matches, weve only played 2 so far n i'm convinced it will sort itself out quicker this season. Many fans couldn't see anyone saving us after the first 12 last term, i never subscribed to that view n dont now.
