Re: Chesterfield v Accrington

BBC Chesterfield man told the Chesterfield Manager that Stanley had merited their result. Their manager conceded that Stanley deserved something out of the game but bemoaned the amount of possession Chesterfield conceded to Stanley in the second half which meant they were under too much pressure and their failure to hang on.

Sometimes teams did not get their just desserts and he wished this match had been one of them.

Comments on Chesterfield message board

"Accrington Stanley who are they? They're the side that got the ball down and totally outplayed a side with greater resources today, that's who."

"Accrington should have had a stonewall penalty"

"What a lovely equaliser their goal was... superbly worked corner routine...
like most of us, could see the goal coming from here to bradford, so when it did come, I was almost pleased to see a decent goal...

Would be lovely if we could see a Spireites set piece of similiar quality come off... "

Today's was Chesterfield's first goal from a corner for 9 months

"QUOTE (spireiteblue @ Nov 22 2008, 07:07 PM)
87 from Accrington how embarrassing this must be a new low....."

And made their presence felt with their own drum. Mind you they had more to shout about than us! "

Re: Chesterfield v Accrington

From Chesterfield's website;

Chesterfield Accrington

Possession 50% 50%

Shots on target 2 8

Shots off target 5 10

Corners 5 4

Fouls 20 10

"As the (2nd) half wore on Accrington were the only side who looked like scoring; they were playing the game at a healthy pace and Chesterfield seemed unable to find the time to slow the game down .............. on 85 minutes Stanley won a corner which was played out to their right and, as the ball came over, Miles dummied and bought time for Ryan to power a shot past Carson for a deserved equaliser. To their credit, Stanley continued to press as the game closed out in disappointing style for the home side"

Love the stats; 18 shots and only 10 fouls

Like the comments as well

Well played lads; up the Stanley!

Just heard Chesterfield fan complaining on Radio Sheffield's leading phone in that "Accrington Stanley totally outplayed us in the second half."
