Re: Colchester United Thread,
Good team display today cant really fault anyone, how Beckles deserved RED i will never know, was a yellow at the worst.i thought he played the ball? the penalty looked soft also, we will see tonight on telly, the second half, even with 10 men,we created more chances, how yon lot are in the top half is a mystery to me Well done Stanley roll on tuesday, got a good report on the Mansfield match from Dave in Germany, see yeh tuesday mate.

Re: Colchester United Thread,
what a game with 10 heros on the pitch. the only downside is that both sets of fans will be talking about the officials. the three stooges, a touch of a marx brothers comedy and more than a little bit of the chuckle brothers come to mind. its a good job we won or someone would be hanging a rope from a tree up livingstone rd. for those inept sods/

Re: Colchester United Thread,
Well played Stanley. Hope it's clear we are far too good to go down. Better than the Us even with 10 men.
Matty P, Kee, McConville best players today ... in that order. Shaky keeper makes me nervous.

Re: Colchester United Thread,
Good display by the team today. Guthrie looked like he couldn't kick his own erse which is just how I remember him. The red looked harsh but we didn't really look like we would lose.

Re: Colchester United Thread,
Yeah, he was all elbows today, certainly in first half, yet he got away with it.

Re: Colchester United Thread,
Highlights are up. Beckles sending off looks as harsh on't telly as it did from the Clayton End. Just reached for the ball, feet down, not overly hard. Weird.
First goal is class.
Penalty a bit dubious.

Re: Colchester United Thread,
Ps, I went up the Coppice before the match. First time in decades. I have some old cine film of me, my brother and a girl called Susan Ankers jumping off the trig point circa 1967.
Things have changed up there. Like trees I think.
My grandma used to live on Waddington Road. The road itself was just a load of dumped building waste with huge holes and lumps. My dad used to drive on it at about 2mph for fear of destroying his car. I was amazed to find that after all this time it was still in a shocking state.
Anyway, sorry for the digression.
Only 1,300 there today. 200 from Colchester. What is wrong with people these days?

Re: Colchester United Thread,
Watching the video clip, Omar's red card had similarities to 'Man Mountain' Pearson's against Carlisle in that he lost control of the ball. But, unlike Matty, he didn't go in with both feet towards the oncoming player. The Colchester player didn't appear to have control of the ball at any time.
