But at least they have scored a fair few more goals than us to say their GD is -23 & ours is -34

Re: coleman
"I don't think people seriously realise what we work with and on what sort of budget. If they did, I think they would die of shock." This, from John Sill, manager of D&R, whose average gates are, at this moment, running at around 400 higher than ours!
It's also interesting to look on the Daggers forum, which seems to be largely free of character assasinations against the manager. In fact, the fans seem happy to have survived with the resources they have. That makes a refreshing change!

People keep going on about Stanley paying the lowest wages, having the lowest budget, etc. I have asked this question before - will somebody PLEASE tell me what wages we pay and what wages the rest of league two pay, will somebody PLEASE tell me what our budget is and what the budget of the rest of legaue two is. Until somebody comes up with figures proving we pay the lowest wages and proving we have the lowest budget why doesn't everybody stop using this assumption as an excuse for Coleman, Bell and Whalley.

Re: coleman
I was under the impression that the average wage at Stanley was around £27,000, while the overall average for division two was circa £52,000. More importantly, surely it stands to reason as we get by far the lowest gates on the division and we're not borrowing any money, then we must have one of the lowest, if not the lowest, operating budgets? I will also repeat my question - if Coley's achievement of keeping a club in the league (albeit in a lowly position) on gates of circa 1,500 is nothing exceptional, then how come no other manager is doing it?

Isn't it also the case that league one and two salaries are capped and can only be paid in relation to gate receipts ?

Re: coleman
Yes, I think you're right, Dave, which means that, officially, we must be paying the lowest salaries in the league.

The salaries are capped but they can be paid in relation to turnover. This includes gate receipts, lottery receipts, transfer reciepts, bar receipts, pub receipts, in fact any receipt.

Precicely 'under the impression', will somebody please come up with some facts that substantiate the argument.

Cashman wrote, Dec 2006, "eric whalley was on granada tv the other night picking a deserved award up for stanley, he said the average wage for the division was £53K, and stanleys average £27K".
Original survey from The Independent http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/163676000-the-average-salary-of-a-premiership-footballer-in-2006-473659.html
Worth a look at the age related wage section, even if it is a couple of years out of date. <!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- google_ad_section_end -->

If we're going all religious, is Queen of the South the only football team mentioned in the bible?
