Thumbs up Colemans Last stand

This time last year we were delighted, promotion to the football league was looming, smiles all round. What gives us the God given right to remain in league two, many other teams have struggled after being promoted to this league. John Coleman will stand up and be counted, John Coleman knows the position. We are not out of it yet with games to come and points to play for, so lets get behind JC and the lads and make sure that Torquay isn't Colemans last stand.

John Coleman has known the position for a while yet he has done nothing about it. The team isn't good enough. Yes we have points to play for but we are facing a points deduction. We cannot atract supporters when we are charging £15 for a seat, will Eric Whalley do anything about it - NO. Other clubs are reducing prices to attract crowds, what are we doing - NOTHING. Be realistic, with the team we have now we are going down and down and down.

Re: Colemans Last stand

The Chairman of ASFC will I am sure be as gutted as anyone about the current position, the blokes no idiot, I would think he is very realistic. He has had to be realistic to get the club where it is today and money does not grow on trees. No one can say for sure if points will be deducted that's up to the FA hearing so whilst there is hope we must look forward and points make prizes. The final prize might be survival, so come on lets get positive.

If you have been watching Stanley's recent performances you would not find any reasons to be positive, the team we are playing with at the moment wouldn't survive in the Conference. Face it, we are playing like a Sunday morning pub team.

Re: Colemans Last stand

I do agree with everything u said Jeff but i think one big push & praying that we can come thro it is necessary for this saturday - we dont win that then the future will look very bleak indeed especially as we got quite a few difficult games left of this season with the top flighters.

A League 2 Sunday morning club though....
If getting positive will help us in anyway to stay there, then i'm up for it!!
It's not over yet and if we are going to put up a fight, nows the time to start...players and fans together!!

Re: Colemans Last stand

Not wanting to continue the negativity but you nhave to be honest...when Paul Mullin is your best forward you know you are in a spot of bother.

Again though I don't blam Coley for any of this.

I think if he was allowed to bring players in he certainly would, I can only assume his hands are tied.

Re: Colemans Last stand

Makes me laugh... I am in total agreement with Will....and all with little faith and no sensible view other than "get Coleman out", show little more than an lack of vision and knowlege... 12 months since J.C. was the right man for the job... and today he remains so. this was always going to be the hardest season, it was always going to be a matter of survival... add to that the loss of two very influential players to higher league clubs and that makes it more of a survival lottery... STOP the whinging and get behind the team........ should you think im wrong then please let me know.... should you want an educated discussion about football, then drop me a line...... should you have a decent argument to the contary then let me hear it

Re: Colemans Last stand

JC is Accringtons best asset and is Accrington Stanley through and through. he has guided us carefully up through the minor eagues to where we are now.
He has been the first to admit the type of "Football" played in the league took him by surprise and he already said he has a lot to learn.
All we need to do is survive the relegation and he will make the changes needed secure our presence.
The current administrative mess has been caused by the rush to get players in to do the job. You just need to look on the Fishy site now to see he is still showing his incredible ability to persuade other managers to give us valuable loans just when we need them.

In short Coley is our king long may he reign!

Now lets get back behind him and the team, he has never let the impossible stop him before and I am sure hes not going to now.

Re: Colemans Last stand

Whilst i think fans do want to get POSITIVE and get behind the team i think Jeff is right, we have not seen the effort or commitment that we would expect to see from a team fighting for survival, whilst i`ll do my upmost to spur the lads on i dont think it will make any difference, but i`m willing to give it a go, just hope the team are.
I watched my sons team play yesturday and i`m not just saying this but even they played with more variation than Stanley do, when one route of attack was closed down they used their heads and switched the method of attack around, and the effort the midfielders put in was just amazing to watch at under 17`s level, I`m surprised that Accy don`t send scouts out to watch the under 17`s as i`ve spotted a few really decent players from a couple of teams in that leauge, Barnoldswick has a really good left winger, Ighten Leigh have a brilliant young keeper, and both Trawden and Barrowford Celtic have a few good attackers and midfielders, and i`m sure there are many more teams around with good players, always worth looking at every possibility, but you`ll never win anything with kids.

Re: Colemans Last stand

Coley will still be here this time next year. If we stay up, he is the genious that made us stay up, if we go down, he's won the league once in the last two years can anyone think of a better man for the job ?

Clitheroe have got a brillianrt young midfielder who scored a hat trick on Sarurday, making seven goals in four games.

He's called Joel Byrom. Perhaps we should take a look. Oh no, hang on....
