Control Box Problems

Planning permission refused for extending the 'temporary' control box. reproduced below a couple of paragraphs from the planning meeting.

May 2008.
In the subsequent application for a further temporary consent (11/08/0333),
the applicants stated that they were seeking permission “to retain the temporary interim
control room for the statutory period of 12 months.” Planning permission was refused and an enforcement notice served requiring the removal of the portakabin by 1st July 2009.
The portakabin has not been removed, and consequently it is unauthorised.

The applicants have indicated that the retention of the portakabin until the end of the
2009/10 season is essential to meet the Football League requirements, but the same
justification was put forward in relation to the 2006/7, 2007/8 and 2008/9 seasons.

Given the long history relating to this matter I recommend, on balance, that planning
permission is refused.
If Members agree with the officer recommendation I would request that approval be given to pursue the current enforcement action (i.e. to prosecute) to secure the removal of the portakabin and ancillary structures within a very limited time period.

Looks from this that the control room (portakabin) should have been removed by 1st July 2009 and now the council intend to prosecute to have it removed.

I gonna stay (fairly) optimistic,and say that the DON will have alternative plans in place............surely?

According to the leader of the council, if the club lodge an appeal, they can buy themselves time until the end of the season.

Let's hope he's right and they can get it built in that time, but, even so, it's yet another demand on our already overstretched budget.

We cant realy blame the Council this time, as lets be honest he Club have known about this 'problem' for the past 3 seasons amd have got away with it..........it had to catch up with them soon enough

Have heard that there is an idea to put it under the TV gantry... That was one possible plan being talked about last night..

That'd make sense, as they're going to have to build it while the other one's in use, if they have to complete it quickly.

it was discussed at the ASSF meeting - not specifically but was mentioned in passing

If i remember right Rob Heys did say sometime ago that the money was in place for the new control box,but like everything else must have gone in to the day to day running of the club
