Re: Council backs new stadium bid

if it was to include the sports centre .. what would would the sports centre customers do .. also the swimming pool ... while the new sports complex is being built .. and would there be room for an astroturf and swimming pool at the side .. or is it just having the football stadium .. maybe with a gym that paying customers could use attached on the side of it .. what about the martial arts and gymnastics and trampolining and the netball teams and football teams and swimming club ... in hyndburn ..

who also would want to re-open a shut pub .. with possibly only trade for 20 weeks a year (home matches only).. what about the rest of the time ... thats been shut because of lack of customers ..

hate to say this nickelson ... a lot of schools now let their gyms out at night .. its extra money for them .. what if they already do this .. and so the groups couldnt use their facilities ..

thought waves was at blackburn .. thats money going out of the borough .. and how many parents would send their kids to learn to swim at waves .. especially if they dont drive ..

Some good points in there Shillelagh

Many of which could be incorperated into such a site that would become a living, breathing hub of the Community with facilities that can be used not just by ASFC for training purposes and obviously matchdays but the wider community perhaps bringing a new vibrant area that may create jobs & new business's and it's own regeneration of sorts into the area.

It's a big thing not just for the Club as I say but for the whole community and potential income streams that can be tapped into 365 days a year rather than as you point out reaching highs on match-days.

There are I am sure projects of similar regeneration ongoing and already built in areas right across the North West in this next of the woods things like Schools for the future & the Ace Centre all of which are contributinting not just to term time in the School side of things but a vibrant social side of things for the community by and large whilst also bringing people back into Nelson in the shape of the Ace Centre.

Re: Council backs new stadium bid

This is becoming an ever increasing development; just how much of this fine gentleman’s money are you going to spend. You must be up to £20 million already.

It was reported in the pub, meeting, paper and on here that Ilyas would fund a new home for the club; not redevelop the Township of Church.

I'm not convinced the meeting was reported properly. I'm sure I heard him say he was joint funding it with you

Re: Council backs new stadium bid

If we do move from the Crown Ground, that would free-up that area for residential development, which should bring in a nice sale fee for the Council. No wonder they are keen for us to move ... but it means that they could part-fund the redevelopment of the Sports Centre site so that it better meets the needs of the community while Ilyas' money develops the site for the training facilities that the team need so much.

What an incredible vision for the Club. It's humbling to think that one person can 'donate' this to the Club, no strings, no conditions, no 'thank you's necessary.

Now compare it to the vision for the Club that we had 12 months ago.

How can people be indifferent to what happens in the Boardroom? Even those people who want to just concentrate on the team must accept that the players have the right to be paid on time; that players are not forced to move to another Club to pay their own bills/mortgage; and that Coley has a playing budget which means that not only can we continue to compete in this league, but survive as a League 1 Club.

Only one of these visions can make this possible.

My entire Stanley budget for the year is somewhere in the region of all; £30 of was spent of Accyweb Shirt Sponsorship; I am considering funding an away shirt and a Player Sponsorship, maybe we'll have to look again at the away shirt and postpone stadium until "next week".

On a serious note; Ilyas generosity is fantastic for the club and the town and he'll certainly retain the admiration of many as a benefactor of many of our ambitions. Let's let him Ilyas and his team short this one out; and let us concentrate on what Accrington Stanley (the whole of it) is doing on the pitch.

Re: Council backs new stadium bid

If it does go ahead on the Church site, then there will be no need for a car park; there is one there already - it's called the sports centre car park, which is vastly under utilised. It should not be to difficult to come to some form of arrangement with the sports centre to use this on match days. Even now, there is no restriction on access & parking.

The only problem I can see is the Henry Street/Dill Hall/Dunkenhalgh Way traffic bottleneck. This is bad at the best of times but I really don't think there is currently a better site in terms of central location and accessability.

Nice to see Church & Ossy station nearby, theres quite a few people like myself that come by train even though the Crown Ground isn't a million miles away from the Station it is still a trek in the wind & rain, plus theres plenty of away fans come by train and Stanley fans from Preston and further afield. The little crazy Mackam comes over from Blackpool area!

Re: Council backs new stadium bid

Pains me to say this, as received wisdomos that it's pure madness, but I hope that, unless things change at the club, ownership of the ground will remain separate (perhaps Ilyas-council-trust). That way if the numpties in charge do screw it up at least the ground is protected. I may have missed it, but can anyone tell me what the plans are in terms of ownership?

But have the opinions and feelings of the good people of Church been considered at any length Cashy ?....Not so !. for if Ms Agnes Sodbottom of Henry Street, who states ' You can shove your damn Football team up your jacksy mate !' has her say, then Mr Britcliffe and the rest of the good Burghers of Hyndburn can think again !....
Here is the feisty Ms Sodbottom as she girds up her considerable loins to launch her her 'Keep Church free from Football Hooligans ! 'campaign....

And who could resist such persuasive appeal ??
