Sorry. Proccy's poor.
Ventre is a full back, Welchy is a centre half. There is no way that Ventre can replace Welchy.

Diesel,

I was slating Proccy cos I just think he's poor. As for giving 110% so he should every game for the Stanley every player should. I never said Ventre can replace Welchy I just think Coley needs to change things at the back because we're conceding too many goals and it's frustrating when we are not doing too bad at scoring them. Scoring 2 away from home should get you at least a point but we end up with nothing. Ventre is now an option again now he's back anyway. I'm sure Coley will get it right soon. Keep the faith. Still need to buy another Centre half and a striker in January with some of the cash the Roberts deal generates.

£200k can actually get you a decent player if you shop around and spend it wisely as I'm sure Coley will. Look at the likes of Cav who we got for nothing? Great player and servant is El Capitan.

I doubt the Roberts money will go to transfers. Very little of it will anyway. We are a small League 2 club we cant afford to spend 200k on a player! Other things have got to take priority.

Re: Craney to stay up front. Ventre back from Port and Anthony Barry back from Yeovil

players - ground - players - ground - players - ground.

I am sure that we would all like new players (here and there) but I think now is the time that we NEED to spend on ground improvements. We all know that the club is losing fans because of the lack of facilities and losing money from the fans that are on the ground because of a further lack of facilities.

Hobsons choice I'm afraid, spend the money on the ground with a view to being able to generate more monies further down the line and hope that the players we have are good enough to keep us in the league - or spend on players who still might not keep us up anyway and not be able to attract more fans spending money because they are wet.

Roof over Clayton End
bar built into that end
tarmac the car parks.

any change spend it on the clubhouse bar.

no doubt about that is how I would spend a theoretical 200k

Re: Craney to stay up front. Ventre back from Port and Anthony Barry back from Yeovil

Your right the ground definitely needs improving but who wants a Rolls Royce without any petrol? If the team is playing well the gates will improve. Fans won't simply start going to watch Stanley because their is a roof at the Clayton end. The Clayton is full every week without a roof. We were getting bigger average gates at home towards the end of last season in a lower league because fans who are not regulars like us pick and choose their games depending on who we're playing and if we're doing well.

Improve the team. Improve the gates. Improve the ground.

I agree it probably won't be spent on players but I'd hate to see us go straight back down after so many years trying to get back in the league and for us to look back and think about what might of been if only we'd bought another centre half. I'd rather be wet in the league than dry in the conference.

Re: Craney to stay up front. Ventre back from Port and Anthony Barry back from Yeovil

there is no right answer but, every year we have strengthened the team and done only the bare minimum to be eligible for promotion should it happen. Every time it has happened we have had to strengthen the team a little further and then we have gone up again. If we strengthen the time this time we may go, we may still go down, but guaranteed next year we will be pushing for league 1 play-offs or trying to bounce straight back into the league. The ground will still not be improved. The team has to be improved via budgeted money in line with the wage cap restrictions. The ground, by virtue of costing a lot more, can only be improved via unforeseen windfalls such as cup runs or player sales.

New fans will come if the team is doing well but if its p*ssin down may not come back.

New fans will come if the team is doin well and if its p*ssin down and we have a roof and bar are more than likely gonna come back. true??

And the bars will be making us money every game and thats a fact.

Re: Craney to stay up front. Ventre back from Port and Anthony Barry back from Yeovil

True but the team has to be priority in my view. the roof won't get you points. I hear what your saying about new fans but it only stands up when it rains. What about games like swindon and wycome? Poor gates after deducting the away following and the sun was cracking the flags.

There is no right and wrong answer though.

Any chance of the Craney 8 flag coming back at home games?

The old theory applies."Take care of the cents, and the dollars will grow."
Make certain the facilities are at their very best, then build your team. When we re-plant a new block of appletrees,we don't just rip out the old ones and bung the new ones in.The soil has to be 'cleaned and prepared which can take several months thus giving the new trees the best possible conditions to grow and 'sprout forth'.Get the ground spot on and the it will allow the club to concentrate on growing the team.

(Disclosure:Early in the morning and just got up so excuse my ramblings )

Re: Craney to stay up front. Ventre back from Port and Anthony Barry back from Yeovil

okay then here is one for you,

we need to attract the kids who are fans of tomorrow, where do we put them? Would you bring your young uns every week in the cold, wind and rain? They cant go in the seating because it is full every week, from the Whinney Hill Stand you can't really see if you are under four foot because there is no banked terracing to speak of. The goal area is where the noise and atmosphere is at which does seem to magnetise the kids, but they are wet.

If the team is near the top then they need players for the push for promotion, if they are near the bottom they need players to get away from the bottom, if they are in the middle they need players to make a push for play-offs. When exactly do you spend a bit on the ground?

Quite right Macca...

The ground does need work we all know that and bad facilities will stop fans coming back...
For Example... Herefords facilities are awful and that stopped me from spending my money and going back there again this season. The same will put off fans (old and new) visiting our ground if nothing improves... !!!
