Re: Crawley smash and grab

I do seem to remember us conceding a hell of a lot from corners in the first few seasons after promotion

Re: Crawley smash and grab

We've conceded at least 3 direct free kick goals haven't we? I'd suggest an element of misfortune combined with a bit of dodgy keeping - since I don't think we've been giving lots of them away.

We conceded from a corner too, but possibly only one?

We have, as you say, been crap with freekicks. Just hopeless hoofs over the bar. I'd rather see them hitting the wall rather than that. Sometimes you can get a lucky deflection.

Re: Crawley smash and grab

Direct shots from free-kicks are one thing. Low probability, but fantastic when they come off. It's the corner or free-kick supposed to be crossed into the box which doesn't clear the first defender, clears the penalty area completely or goes straight down the goalie's throat that brings the groan from me - and they were seen often from Sean at West Ham , but not at all at Crawley , which is why I mentioned it. When they did look to be going long, there was someone (usually Matty) beyond the back post to nod them back across, it almost seemed to be planned!

Exactly, Lord D. Until we sign Payet, we should aim for the b*****ks.
At least it will give one of their defenders something else to think about for the next ten minutes!

It was probably 5 years ago..............I remember saying to Harwood red "We never score from corners" ..... ball in from the right hand side and JJ met it at near post......... seems like yesterday.

Let's hope we do it again tomorrow....
