Re: Dagenham Match Thread
right before they scored
51:37 Attempt missed. Shay McCartan (Accrington Stanley) header from the right side of the six yard box is close, but misses to the right.

Re: Dagenham Match Thread
First time I've ever walked out of a Stanley game before the end. Abysmal showing.

well Davo, he's had his ten games. Give Coley a ring and see if AFC Kirkby Arms can spare him

Re: Dagenham Match Thread
Yet another defeat, when are things going to turn around? It's getting to be a bad habit which can only bring problems.

Re: Dagenham Match Thread
How long can this seriously go on. Can't think of any positives at the moment. Our manager doesn't give me the impression he has the capabilities to get us out of this mess. If a change isn't made soon we will go down with a record low total. Was always a risky appointment but enough is enough he has to go

Dave, although admitting to know very little regarding the finer points of Football, I venture to suggest that the problems are 1) Already there in abundance ...and 2) With the present squad of players are practically irresolvable !.
Even my Rose-coloured spectacles had clouded over as I left the ground tonight leaving me with no view whatsoever of the direction in which the Team and it's Manager are heading.
One thing is certain though that whatever the squad are training to achieve during the week is not working at all and needs urgent adjustment !. If not then the disaster which no Fan would wish for The Reds will become a reality.
It gives me no pleasure to put my disappointment into such harsh words, but I guess that they will be shared by many tonight.

Re: Dagenham Match Thread
2 things struck me tonight. Both goals for Dagenham were a mile offside and the liner on the main stand side could not keep up with play. We deserved and got nought out of that game.
The crowd that was announced was a mile below the number of bums on seats, appeared to be more than 2,500 of which about 100 were Daggers fans. Is EW rearing his ugly head again?
Finally yes I know this is the third thing, James Beattie has had his chance and it would appear not to be working. If this Friday night thing is to work then we have to have a successful team otherwise we are heading for oblivion and much as it pains me, I have to agree with Dav007 on another thread, thanks JB but no thanks. You gave it your best shot and it didn't work.

Re: Dagenham Match Thread
I was very worried when I saw the starting line up, with no apparent attempt to go at Dagenham with all guns blazing, and what little quality we have mostly warming the bench. At half time I was completely peed off with the dross Stanley produced after a reasonable first 15 minutes followed by the usual effort without any quality penetration. At the beginning of the second half I was furious that JB had changed nothing in his line up, continuing with the worst pair of midfielders in the entire football league. We are becoming detached at the bottom, for crying out loud, yet still he persists with the 2 deadlegs who haven't any attacking nous between them. At the end I was devastated by a complete failure to capitalise on a decent crowd, great backing from the fans yet again, which JB has been calling for, and the sheer embarrassment caused by standing among a group of Rochdale and Bury fans who couldn't believe what they were seeing:- i.e., the worst player on the pitch staying on the pitch. As one of them shouted "I suppose every team has it's ******" after yet another Horlicks, and then raising a laugh when the Daggers subbed their player of the same name by shouting " It's the wrong ******!"
They were still commendably urging Stanley on to the end, however, but I can't see them coming back.
I've had it with JB, I'm sorry to say. He continues to praise his players but is blind to the footballing realities. Davo, I think you have got it right, although I really wish it were otherwise.

Re: Dagenham Match Thread
Having watched highlights of some of the Daggers games it did not take Einstein to work out how they set-up & play & so it proved and boy was it effective, this game in the past has proved to be a home banker but it was far from that last night. Daggers probably in a lot of ways mirror Stanley in terms of Support & Finacial Support but that's where the similarities ended.
A golden opportunity was missed with many neutrals taking up the Tenner offer and faces returning I have not seen for a while and a genuine chance to turn the season around was met by a lack of cohesion, leadership & fight.
Nobody wants to be negative of the Club we are all Supporters but we are on a downward spiral and the Club has to do some soul searching to arrest it and very quickly.
I overheard somebody who is old enough to remember in the Crown before the game describe the season so far as shades of 61-62 & that sent shivers down my spine.

Re: Dagenham Match Thread
Well my two pence worth..........
We really did look shockingly bad in all areas. My last game was Chesterfield away and the worrying thing is we seemed to have gone backwards. No penetration, awful passing, absolutely NOTHING in midfield. With a defence that seems to have zero confidence.
Im absolutely gutted by the situation as pre-season and especially after the Middlesborough and Pompey games I thought we really had a side on our hands.
So where does the problem lie. Call me old fashioned but there is no doubt the middle of midfield is the most important area on a football pitch. It provides the defence with protection aswell as supporting the attack and its quite clear to me our's is simply non-existent.
Just look at the last few years .. Craney (1st time round), Ryan, Bryan Hughes, Linganzi... All wonderful players that controlled the field from the middle of the park. Just look at last night, Joyce yet again was a headless chicken and contributed nothing, and hasnt for 2 years, DROP him, simple.
Murphy has done a job in there (Pompey at home) especially springs to mind, but he is a natural defender, for the 100th time.
Much as I love Hatfield, he is not a central midfielder and looked all over the place last night. How many goals has he scored for us playing just behind the front man??!?
Miller!??! Absolute passenger AGAIN.
Where is josh windass?? Surely he deserves a chance?? We cant do any worse in there.
As for positives, Odejayi tried his balls off and won everything in the air, so fair play to the lad, but if he flicks it on and there is nobody there to recieve it, whats the point??
Also thought the young lad from Blackpool looks a talent, but do we really need another winger??
Massively worrying.

Re: Dagenham Match Thread
the positive thing to take out of this is that we have Morecambe coming up soon - so at least we know the run will end there
