Darlington enter administration

Im guessing if this happened it would be a 10 point deduction? Dont think it would help us that much to push to safety as they would still be 11 points ahead!

The move has been blamed on continued low attendances ... just 2,858 supporters turned out to watch last night's 2-1 defeat by Rochdale.

Good people of Accrington, please take note.

Meanwhile, the administrator seems to be accepting a 10pt deduction as inevitable.

Let's hope the season ticket deal does make 'em sit up and take notice. If the prospect of just over six quid a match to watch league football (not counting the ad-ons) doesn't attract them, then I can't think what will.

always feel sorry fer the fans n players in these sad cases, wynonie n meself were only talking about this after the game last night, the deductions penalise those mentioned only- in my book, n the cretins who caused it sit in their ivory towers safe from any real punishment.

they wont be the last....
for all the moans on here eric does appear to run a tight ship, that hopefully means stanley will stay afloat...... more fans through the turnstiles would be a big help.

Not to mention the number of suppliers, many of whom could be small businesses who might if they are lucky get a penny in the pound for outstanding debt.

Another club who have cheated, waited until they are safe then wipe the slate clean

Thankfully we dont have a brand new ground like them with high maintance costs etc! Alot of debt are because of this!
So for people who want a new ground....

"I bought the club two and a half years ago with a determination to achieve promotion and success. A key to my plan was to develop land around the club and use rental revenues to support the income from match tickets and develop the team to championship levels.

"The plan has suffered two setbacks. First, it has taken too long to expedite the required planning permission to bring the site to the market. Secondly, the recession has meant both that the football attendances have been lower and development opportunities will realise less money.

Yeah they should get a -25 point deduction for falling into admin during the season. Im sure thats part of the FA rules.

I quite agree with the above, the powers that be at Darlo built a stadium thinking they were too good for league 2 - WRONG. They should have taken a leaf out of Wigan Athletics book and waited until they were promotion candidates for the championship and had a Rugby League or another team to ground share with, Rugby Union maybe. If I remember correctly, WAFC struggled for the first few years in the Football League but look at them now, challenging for Europe and still a selling team, buy them cheap and sell them on for a profit, Heskey being an exception.

Another point here, Yeah they should get a -25 point deduction for falling into admin during the season. Im sure thats part of the FA rules. as Nickelson as said, this is the second time they have gone into administration, surely that should be a 17 point at least deduction as with Bournemouth and Rotherham. Not that I wish that on them but once again a club is being allowed to stay in the league and get away with paying pennies in the pound, yet in '62 we resigned for being unable to pay our debts and that was accepted. Maybe these clubs should restart just like we had to all those years ago.

Whilst we may not need the seats, we have to have them by league rules, which the club knew about 3 years ago when we got promoted, and personally I would rather watch this club in league 2 than the BSP.
