Darlington Game on 2BR
Howdy
Just to let you know that 99.8FM 2BR will have full match commentary on tonight's game with Darlington.
Before kick off we'll hear from Coley as well as finding out why John Miles worries about looking lazy!
The programme's on the air from 7, with commentary from 745, and as ever your input is welcome - [email protected] or text 81222 and start your message with 2BR...
Cheers
Dan

Re: Darlington Game on 2BR
And because I forgot to mention it earlier, just to let you know that at half time we'll have Paul Mullin on the programme talking about his move, and after the game Rob Heys on the club's financial future.
I couldn't work out how to edit the original post, so this'll have to do!

Caught the tail end of this interview on 2BR. Rob says they are bringing in a new pay structure :- Lesser basic wage, better bonuses for wins, goals, clean sheets Etc. Sounds like a good idea and looks like things are moving in the right direction at The Stanley

that sounds ok on the face of it, i just wonder who will sign in close season though on that hook, if it means all other div 2 clubs pay more?

Re: Darlington Game on 2BR
I've always thought this is how footballers should be paid. I also reckoned that for games like the FA Cup the squad should receive the money you get for each round progressed and the club benefit from the gate money, extra sponsorship, TV money etc.
I don't think we'd have lost to 10 fit players Horwich and Worcester City in two successive seasons if the squad knew they were getting the £10k win bonus!

Re: Darlington Game on 2BR
God Macca... Worcester away. Painful memories.
This new pay structure should mean that we will avoid signing players who won't put 100% into each game, shouldn't it?

That is a good point Shaker And one that Rob sort of emphasised by talking of "Players who keep clean sheets" and "Players who win matches" not "Players who are injured or not playing week in - week out." Personally I think it is a good idea, to have a Team with that hunger and togetherness to win. It does not have to involve big bucks, I would rather have a Team of players that want to play for Stanley

Well exactly, if it's the different between 1M and 1.05M it might not spark that much extra effort but the difference between 20k and 30k a year is a hell of a lot.
