I'm waiting for news on the official site. I might have a long wait.

Re: Doherty

I think Tin Monkey is being very hard on those who run the official site. Obviously, what with Stanley having played their first Football League fixture for 44 years only on Saturday, and with their first home League game for the same length of time being scheduled for Tomorrow, there can't possibly be anything of note worth putting on the site. So it's hardly surprising the last post was on Sunday.

As my sainted Granny always used to say "If you've nowt to say lad -Say nowt"

Re: Doherty

The internet is the main way a large percentage of people get their information today. You only need to look at newspaper sales to see that the public access news differently than they did 10+ years ago.

Throughout the Summer the club has failed to keep the website up-to-date with news, when it should have been keeping things ticking over with an update every single day. The site went nearly a week without an update during this Summer!! There should be daily updates, whether there is a story of real note or not.
I still believe that the club misses so many opportunities because they fail to see the importance of the internet and the benefit of good public relations.

A three line story saying Doherty would miss 2 weeks due to injury would not have taken more than a minute or two to write and publish on the site. Saying that there isn't time is a frail excuse and one that just compounds the ignorance.

What would you like the club to put on the site in the summer when there is nothing to update

June 7th 2006
the grass is still green.

something along those lines Tin?

How about, "Training going well", or, "Coleman has a number of trialists he is looking at", or "Mullin's operation was a success and he should be back by the beginning of the season"? You know, that kind of thing. The kind of thing other Football League clubs put on their sites during the Summer to keep fans interested and up-to-date with what's going on.

It's ok saying that those stories may have been covered in the Observer, but for people like me who live outside of the area, I received hardly any news during the Summer. Added to that, the Observer has a relatively small circulation (how many do they sell a week, a few thousand?), whilst the website has a potential readership of millions.

Thin Monkey - it's hard to detect irony on t'internet sometimes. I'll blame that rather than my tiny mind.

What about news of the new Sponsor name on the back of the shirt or are they waiting until the present stock of shirts have sold out before making an announcement

Re: Doherty

for what its worth tin monkey i agree with you. we got a bit tied up with other things over the summer and the website did get neglected, however we will endeavour to get at least a story a day on in future so there's always something new to read!

Re: Doherty

Fair enough Rob. I know that things must have got hectic over the Summer and things must be prioritised. I just wanted to make the point that the internet is so common place nowadays, that every business has to make full use of it, or miss out.

A story-a-day, however trivial it may be, keeps people coming back and keeps people interested.
