Dont panic yet people.
Does anybody remember last summer????
I do, and after losing Granty, Symes and Kee I honestly thought we where doomed. Yet looked what happened.
We even had an embargo till a week before the season, at least Coley has a full summer to work his magic finding those gems, ie Sean Mc, that nobody knows about!!!
Yes im also very disappointed we have lost the likes of Phil, Terry and probably Jimmy and Joe, but remember how much we achieved this season.
This was inevitable.
We offer conference wages (at best) so its obvious that when players shine they will attract the attention of bigger clubs.
If anybody deserves a move along with Jimmy Ryan its Phil, he puts 100% in EVERY game, just a shame he has signed for those moron's but nothing we can do.
Rather disappointed in Terry, Scottish Premier League is League 1 at best IMO. But no doubt they offered him more cash. Again nothing we can do.
Im just hoping the likes of Cisak, Proccy, Joycey, Hessey etc will sign, along with Long on loan, as he can slot straight into Sunbed's position for me.
IN COLEY WE TRUST.

Re: Dont panic yet people.
Totally agree, Smudgie, and totally unconcerned about the situation. Players come, players go, Coley goes hunting round the lower leagues and finds unpolished gems...until they, too, go in one or two years time. That's they way it is at Stanley.
Just one thing though, Smudgie, isn't it time you dropped the "Heys out" signature? He's made some mistakes at times in the past, but most of us have now let bygones be bygones. Perhaps it's time you did the same?

Re: Dont panic yet people.
Wouldent say im totally un-concerned but I have faith in Coley & Bell to find those gems from down the M58 or M62
The amount of good players on the PFA website is quite staggering, im sure Coley knows every one of them, as well as the contacts from the released Liverpool youngsters etc etc. Which is always a good place to start.
Ill think about deleting it.........
Im really hoping we can keep Razor though he genuinely for me is the only player that could claim to be as good as Jimmy Ryan on his day.

Re: Dont panic yet people.
Coley and Jimmy were the making of Kee, Grant and Symes; Kenny was a good keeper, but so is Cisak; Kempson had a good season, but I'd rather have Hessey.
It's the way life is, and always will be, with a club with our resources. I'm sorry to see Jimmy and Phil go, because they've been stalwarts and played with 110% effort and with real ability week after week after week. I don't think anyone could suggest that either of them owes us anything, and we owe them our gratitude and our good wishes.
I started the "Dear Santa, For Christmas I would like ....... Terry Gornell" thread a couple of years back. He was good on loan, and led the line well last season; there are, though, other good (lower league) strikers out there; I'm sad he's gone, but wish him well. I hope that Joe, Alex and Dean all stay, but if they don't - good luck to them all.
Coley and Jimmy are geniuses at finding and bringing on talent; they'll do it again. Let's be really glad that - amongst whatever departures there are - we haven't lost the best management team in the country; I really thought they'd be snaffled away this summer.
In Coley and Jimmy we trust ............

Re: Dont panic yet people.
I think there has to be a little bit of panic, having just lost (if all reports and rumours are true) 3 of out best players from last season,
Phil Edwards - absoutly quality defender, ever present since signing back in 06, people say if he was taller he would be a prem player, i certainly thought he could be playing at a higher level, he went on a 100+ game run without ever starting on the bench, scored 12 goals for us last year and really commanded the back line and i think alot of the defenders looked up to him specailly the young ones, we will really miss him in defence, he was a player who just got on with job quietly and very effeciently,
Jimmy Ryan - What a player, what a find by coley after him getting released by shrews, everytime he got on that ball in midfield i was just waiting for that 30 yard screamer or that amazing run he does from the middle of the pitch, skipping past defenders, passing it to the strikers setting something up, his free kicks 9/10 times you knew something was going to come of this, one of his best free kicks has to be in the cup at home when it was pouring with rain and the pitch was really muddy yet jimmy curles a free kick into the next watching it back on sky sports news looks quality and it got onto the SSN goals of the week, also the cornor routine, brillant, magic player.
Terry Gornell - now i didnt see much of last seasons games but watching him when he came on loan, he was class, but reading the online stuff and papers sent out every month, no-one hardly had a bad word to say against him, he wasnt the 20+ goal striker everyone was looking for, but watching the last couple of games you could see his quality, and realy wished he has stayed another season,
Now were going have to find 3 more players to fill these roles, we had a team last season capable of automatic promotion, if we had kept the core of the squad and added 2 or 3 more players than we really could of made something in the new season to come, coley and jimmy work amazingly well with the budget to even bring players like that in, but how can we build a side capable of winning trophies if we have to bring in 5/6 players to replace ones that go, till we get more money capable of paying league standard wages, as we have the training ground, than i think this is always going to happen, the fans are never on thier backs always giving top quality support even if were winning 3-0 or losing 3-0, i think now its players like craney and sean MC, who havnt always been the most favourite players on here to really step up to the plate,

Re: Dont panic yet people.
It's a little troubling, but I'd be more worried if it was John Coleman leaving and not the players.
I thought we were going to struggle when we lost Prendergoose and Evil, but we won the conference that year! Not saying we'll repeat that level of success, but I'd be surprised if we didn't have a competitive team come August.

Team V Chesterfield
Dunbavin, Lees, Edwards, Flynn, Richardson, McConville (Miles 67), Murphy, Procter (Joyce 89), Turner (Kee 67), Symes, Grant
2-0 Kee Twice
Apr 30th 2011
Team v Barnet

Re: Dont panic yet people.
the problem is that the spine of the team, the rock upon which all the success was built, has been ripped away. Coley will undoutedly find some new maestro's but I really feel sorry for him. He shouldn't have to keep doing this and will no doubt feel a little betrayed by those players. Gornell to a comedy club? Edwards to the morons? At least Jimmy should be going somewhere decent, hopefully.
£300k of talent has walked away from the club today, hopefully contracts WILL be offered in January from now on .....

Good post Rob, i agree coley will probably feel a bit betrayed, many who have gone or will go were brought from nowhere, sadly loyalty seems to be a thing consigned to history, but yeh can't really put a price on the "Cost Of Living" to a bloke.

Re: Dont panic yet people.
What's the odds on Joe Jacobson being next !!
blue-and-amber - Joe Jacobson
See who turns up for pre season, whoever doesn't ,withdraw there contract offer and sign players who are 100% committed to wanting to play for Accrington Stanley.
