Re: Drums

There are some sad people about. They moan about anything. If the floodlights aren't too bright, then the car park causes problems.... and now the drum is deemed too loud. What is wrong with these people. What is wrong with the town actually having a successful football club? Do the people of Accrington want one? They knew what buying a house near a football club could entail, and if they arent happy, they're more then welcome to give their home to me.

Anyway rant over. Perhaps I could understand it being banned at night games. But Saturdays is just ridiculous.

Re: Drums

You mean this one Diesel.....

"As most of you will be aware we have now had our drums banned from the ground along with massive banners......... 1 word for the morans who continue to complain about the club ARSEHOLES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why have they nowt better to chuffing do for god sake... what we had going was something special. Idiots.... why whats the ****ing problem first it's parking issues cos the club is progressing which inturn causes more people to come and watch, then it was the floodlights being to bright!!!!! now chuffing flags and a drum jesus what next our town actually having a football team what is with folk in Accrington? Can someone please ask me this..... Have Rovers had theres banned? How about all the other clubs in Lancashire seen as Lancashire council has got involved? Or even other clubs in England? Bet they haven't. Surley it has to be the same rule for all? Not one rule for one and one rule for another? What i would now like to see is all the "Ultras" or folk who support what we the ultras are now doing is write letters to Scum coucil and Lancashire county coucil compalining about this and stating that they surley can't just ban it at 1 ground..... it must be done at all if they are to ban it. mine is already in the post. Come on we can't let this happen suley.

Show your support and get a letter sent today...."

Re: Drums

Could the club please come forward and issue an Official Statement regarding this. I can stretch to accepting the drum (if it is banned at other grounds as well) but banners?????

I've got an idea for them. Why don't we just stop going and then there will be no problem with noise or parking.

An Official Statement that says exactly who has decreed this please.

Re: Drums

What on earth can the reason be for wanting banners banned? What problem can they possibly cause for residents?

Drum on a Saturday afternoon can't be all that bad either surely? I can understand it in the evening for houses that are close to the ground. Maybe some of them have lived there since before Stanley had that ground so maybe they didn't move next to a football club. I remember looking at a house on Whalley Road when we were moving and the owner pointing out the proximity of the ground as an asset. He could watch matches from up a tree in his garden!

I remember in the olden days when we lived in Sultan Street and Stanley had the Peel Park ground. The crowds came flooding down the street on a Saturday afternoon after the match ended and there wasn't a hope of trying to get home "against the tide". I remember my Mum used to say "Let's get back before football looses" (That's 'looses' as opposed to 'loses'. lol) but we didn't see living close to the ground as a problem. We were proud of our team and the bigger and noisier the crowds coming down the street the more chuffed we were. My Mum never went to watch but I was taken sometimes even though I was only little.

Smile "

Before everybody starts to get up in arms about banners, can I remind folks that Cammy's original "rant" which has just been copied above, was, in fact, in response to an "April Fool" posting, which, in the end, caused Cammy a little embarrassment , as,in fact, there had been no mention of such a ban. I think the latest news about the drum may be true, but please don't all go off on one about banners, because there really is no need.

Re: Drums

All the more reason for the club to make an official response to say if this is true or not.

PS: Sorry if I caused some confusion with my above post . I was only replying to Diesel. Still quality though

we know that Rob frequently logs on, as well as any number of other 'well informed' individuals. I don't think its a case of pandering to us, more a case of just answering a straight forward question.

1 - Are drums going to banned?
a) yes
b) no
c) The idea has been mooted but as yet we are undecided.

2 - Are banners banned (how ironic)
a) yes
b) no
c) the idea has been mooted but we are as yet undecided

3 - (only the case of 1 & 2 being a) Is this your idea, Livingstone Road well meaning society's, HBC or LCC?

The ban has been implemented by .........

Hardly running and would take two minutes. No rumours then just hard fact.

They kneww months ago that they would not be building a roof. We argued the toss amongst ourselves anyway and the feeling became a little stronger that we want a roof. Answered straight away there would never have been any furore or fuss over it.

There is an old saying that goes ... politeness costs nothing.
Neither does information.

If the club knows something they should announce it there and then, not the week after.
