Re: Even earlier Rotherham Match Thread.

Ok I was a little worried before........ Now im massively worried.

Unfortunately I simply do not believe some of our lads are League 2 standard at the moment, its a simple as that. Yes we have suspensions & injuries, but make no mistake we are in the fight of our lives to stay in this league come May.

Fair play for Leam, trying to change it a little today, but for the life of me I cannot understand how Joyce is keeping his place, yet again he was almost non-existent. Barnett, Beattie, Eckersley & Clarke all looked massively slow and labored throughout the match. Young Eckersley & Barnett have hardly played and unfortunately it showed today.

The only player really to come away with any credit for me was Belford in goal, who kept the score respectable with some cracking stops, so well done to him.

Lindfield, for the 50th time, NOT a Right Back.
Liddle....... Had a shocker.
Murphy........ Clearly not fit.
Eckersley...... Rusty as box of nails.
Joyce.......... A passenger.... AGAIN.
Clarke.......... No impact
Beattie........ See Clarke
Carver......... Looked out of his depth to me.
Boco........... No impact
Barnett........ No impact.

I have no idea why Molyneux was on the bench, maybe he wasnt 100% fit??? But the introduction of him and Hatfield in the last 10 minutes at least provided some movement and quality on the ball.

What we need in my humble opinion............ Is an experienced midfielder or two, A sort of Bryan Hughes who can use his experience and take a game by the scruff of the neck. Miller, Clarke, Barnett & Joyce are simply not the answer..... Are Hatfield or Dixon the men to do it?? Who knows, until they get a start we simply wont know. 10 minutes here and there just wont do.

My team for Chesterfield.........

Belford
Winnard......Murphy......Eckersley......Molyneux
Hatfield......Dixon
Lindfield........Boco.........Chippendale
Beattie

Subs
Dawber
Joyce
Miller
Podge
Carver
Liddle
Gray

We cant do any worse!!!

Re: Even earlier Rotherham Match Thread.

Beattie has played six games and we've won one of them, is he possibly the weak link? Granted he has scored but one was a wonder goal from nothing (that really could have gone anywhere) and one was a penalty. With the exception of the Plymouth goal it is the creation of chances that we are lacking, maybe that is where Amond came into his own? Does BT adequately bring the midfield into play?

Winnard has been a big miss this season as well. We miss him when he doesn't play and we miss him when he does, he hasn't seemed the same player this season. Is his mind elsewhere? Does his injury play on his mind? At least three times this season opposition forums have described as the worst they have seen ...

Winnard, Murphy and Joyce have failed to hit anything like the form of last season.

Boco, big player for us and difficult to leave out but he has played every game bar the JPT against Morecambe (week after signing) - maybe could do with half a game off now and then?

We concede far too many goals from wing play, no protection from the midfield? Pointless playing five in midfield when we're getting battered down the outside.

Relegation? We'll be reet enough, some crap sides on their way this month so hopefully we can get halfway to the rest of the points we need.

Dawber (give him the chance and put the borrowed player on the bench)

Murphy ... Eckerslike ... Winnard (had his best season playing on his left foot)

Linda ... Boco of trickso ... Miller ... Chippenflick

Ammo ... BT .... 50 shades of Gray

Paul Fook will be expecting the usual formation so I'd give owd Cock'ead summat to think about and just go for his jugular right from the off. At least 3 of that starting line up weren't rated by the 3accented one and at least 3 more will be hoping for the phone call off him next week and will be playing for a new contract (they hope).

I'm only playing 3 at the back as well, no point playing with full backs as they've done rock all most of this season.

Re: Even earlier Rotherham Match Thread.

Missed the game today, but the result was half expected. We are really short of experience at the moment, and smudge makes some good points
Other teams have worked us out, which is a worry.
Regarding dean,he is desperate to get fit and his head is certainly not elsewhere,he's played through injuries for over 18 months, and is slowly getting there.
Ps keep the faith, and back the team !!!

Re: Even earlier Rotherham Match Thread.

When times get tough, we need to keep clear, cool heads and times are looking tough for us. One or two new faces to be introduced in next week/10 days may give things a different perspective

Re: Even earlier Rotherham Match Thread.

Only going off what I have seen this season in terms of games attended, but will say it again. This group of players and possibly the manager are not good enough to keep us in this league.

Slate me if you want, but people keep talking about January, but we ain't got the money for anyone decent or the wages for anyone decent.

Very, very worried, but very, very honest.

Not slating but think thats absolute rubbish we will stay in Div2 this season without doubt to me,As fer Jan it don't matter when, we will never have the money, its about the right type of player we can nab, always will be, fer people to slate a bunch of kids n a new manager who beattie apart has had no influence of who's in the squad is rank poor to me.

Like I said cashy, not slating anyone. Just stating a fact that this group of players and possibly the manager are not good enough to keep us in this division.

Whether they are young or inexperienced is not my point . Just saying that as a unit, they are not enough.

Re: Even earlier Rotherham Match Thread.

From what I have seen this season we wont go down, but wont be far off.

For me Beattie is like McConville - adds nout to the teamplay, looks absolutely uselss but then pops up with a goal. I'd rather have him than Podge who is the opposite in that he looks busy but produces nout.

As for Leam as a manager I think he will prove himself in January - it depends on his contacts to get the players in and the style of football he wishes to play.

At the moment he has a squad of Coley snd Cooky's men and the style Leam wishs to impose is in contrast to his predecessors.

Why all the pessimism? Stanley is not the Man. Utd. of league 2,
we don’t expect to win every game,
the injuries & suspensions have culminated in a bad run of form but I have faith in Leam turning this situation round

Re: Even earlier Rotherham Match Thread.

These are young lads learning the ropes- look at the starting line-up today- I dont know exactly but 6 or 7 aged 21 or under? It's an absolute baptism of fire for Leam and we should absolutely get behind him , the staff and the team. Suspensions do not help one bit. The options aren't limitless...
But this is Accrington Stanley-look around you gentlefolk- O' Driscoll, Berg, Mellon...give Leam a chance!!! What's going on in the poisonous world of 'bigclub' football is shameful - We should be setting an example to these clubs and getting right behind our players and staff.
In my view the lads need to keep the ball much better than they are doing-and for longer, something (largely) the same players were doing better earlier in the season.
They need to get a psychologist working on their collective resilience. I felt very sad for them after a massive effort against Bradford trooping back to the spot after Bradford's late winner- their body language spoke volumes. Notwithstanding the inexperience in the team and the management, I feel much more attention needs to be paid than it is to their mental toughness- there seems to be a lot taken for granted out there-perhaps too much on all our parts- so get behind these lads and Leam. He comes accross as deeply committed to the cause- help him-he's earned our support.
If he keeps us up- he'll have done great in my book. Then we can start again.
Two big games coming up- but remember- it will NOT be the end of the world if we lose both- and we must get behind this lot and set an example.

And Happy New Year to one and all from Nirvana
