In second half against Plymouth and the last two games we seem to have gone 4-3-3 with Kay up top and I think the lads have really settled into it
Great 3 points and bring on Saturdays game
442 with Gray and big Kay up front.

Great peformance, back 4 and front 2 awesome, midfield busy, thoroughly professional performance.

Re: Exeter City Match Thread

Frank, didn't go today, but the last few games we had Joyce sat in with murph to his left and hats to his right with moly just ahead of murph and grey ahead of hats joining Kay.
Did we leave two up top ??, if so very attacking away from home !

Re: Exeter City Match Thread

Just back from the game and well happy tonight. Solid from back to front. Aldred is an absolute giant. He didn't miss a thing all afternoon. A couple of lads who came with me (Leeds & Plymouth) can't believe he is playing in League 2.

Very scrappy but well worked goal that knocked the stuffing out of them right on half time. Other than that, and a free kick right at the death, they never threatened us at all. Right from the off, we hustled in midfield and I lost count of the times Stanley players threw themselves infront of attempted shots.

Would have been a travesty if we had ended up with anything less than 3 points.

Very very happy red tonight.

Up North for Northampton next weekend and York the week after.

Also just back, Didn't consider it our best performance,Nor Considered it our worst, Twas a good fighting performance, Which i Consider to be our "BEST" win of the season in view of the other results today,As said, seemed to be a few tired legs today, after a tremendous Month of many matches, Every man though fought their nuts off fer this win n great credit must go to J.B. n P.S. What was missing today was its the first game i ever attended wi No Ultras present? Twas such a shame.

Re: Exeter City Match Thread

I was buzzin all the way to Exeter after Tuesdays game, and buzzed like hell all the way home....roll on Saturday and well done to the coaching staff and squad....a hard fought fully deserved victory by many tired legs...one more win and JB can rest a few and puts his own boots on for maybe a final swan song to his playing career.

We can make the play offs if we win 5 of our last 6 matches!

Good to see Kayode back on the scoresheet by the sounds a superb and deserved three points that moves us ever closer to safety and perhaps our highest finish since the play-offs.

Next Saturday promises to be Big game at home as I imagine the Cobblers will fetch a big following as they are scrapping for their lives.

Well Done to all for the remarkable turnaround since game 13.

Re: Exeter City Match Thread

The Reds keep ensuring that this old man is, as far as Soccer goes anyway, very happy indeed !.....but more than this is the pleasure felt at seeing James Beattie realising what for him must be some sort of a dream as the team which he prepares so diligently provide him with the fight and application needed to ensure their relentless climb towards Football League success.
Am I the only one I wonder to be expecting the Reds to win every time they take the pitch ?.
A far cry I feel from the emotions endured not that long ago !....Yet it seems to be this way..and very satisfying too !.
So on to Saturday and again a contest to anticipate with savour as Northampton will undoubtedly scrap like mad to maintain their League status. My reply to those of their fans who are expecting three points at t'Stanley's expense is 'Cobblers' !.
Only hope (once again !) that some enthusiasm might be shown by those in Hyndburn, and that a better attendance will ensue to cheer the Reds to more success !.

Re: Exeter City Match Thread

Another fantastic result well done to the mighty reds.

From JB's interview it looked like he was absolutely delighted so fair play to him. I must admit after the Dagenham defeat in October I really did think we where doomed, so I have massive respect for everything he and the lads have achieved. If only the season had started in November we would we talking about the playoff's, a quite remarkable statistic.

Also great to see Hatfield finally getting a run of games, there is no doubt when he plays well so does the team.

Northampton on Saturday is looking rather tasty to say the least

Re: Exeter City Match Thread

How was the 'match day experience' at Exeter?
Cheap entry, good food, friendly stewards, good view, clean toilets, etc?

Re: Exeter City Match Thread

It wasn't bad not great, the bogs made ours look posh. Had no problem at all wi the stewards in fact helpful n friendly i found. View from the stands was impaired by thick steel girders the stand was summat like our white elephant at Peel Park, timber. Entry was £15 concession price, not that cheap, but overall a good day, fans of em seemed friendly enough.
