Re: Exeter City Match Thread.........
GREAT RESULT TODAY.
Reads on the BBC live text coverage like we came under a lot of pressure late on but the boys must have done well to hang on.
Just looked at the table and this keeps us in touch with the 'top half' group building a bit of a gap behind us.
Onwards and upwards towards the PLAY OFF SPOTS now.

Re: Exeter City Match Thread.........
Yes big game against Bury Friday night need fan numbers on cause they will bring a few, if we manage to beat them 1 point behind with a game in hand we would be right in the mix. So come on please as many as we can get on the ground Friday and give Coley and the lads the noise and support they need and deserve.

Re: Exeter City Match Thread.........
Well done Tom. Another defender's goal securing the points. Really pleased with this result, Exeter one of the teams outside of the top 6 who are difficult to beat. Another goal for Shay, provided by Moly and a mention for Kal's unintentional assist....

Re: Exeter City Match Thread.........
Partial QUOTE from my comments on the Stanley v Exeter thread home match which we lost 2 - 3 a few weeks ago;
In conclusion, I think a draw would have been a good result tonight and probably a fair result too. I think that Exeter have been the best exponents of the 'control...pass...move...control' game that I have seen this season and I expect them to be in the top three or four by the end of the season.
I must admit that going in to todays match I wasn't too hopeful of getting anything out of the game and thinking that a draw would be a really good result.
To get a win AGAINST A TOP TEAM with what sounds like a really excellent performance is a real filip for the Team, for Coley and Jimmy and for all the supporters.
So Well done one and all.

Well actually Dav NO those 11 lionhearts today won "In Spite" of our Manager, I actually was praising him for doing summat right, cos we had subs warming up after 1 Hour, and some of our lads looked shot-at (quite a few have been ill this week) But Stanley equalised and the subs were sat back down, Honestly Billy Smart wouldn't employ this clown, I'm certain everyone yon could see some knackered players today, Mcarten was very good, still needs to learn to retain the ball not give away, but still very good, Moly was off the boil again, apart from a 10 min spell were he put a couple of good crosses in, but gave the ball away far too much in dangerous positions, Aldered was off the boil also, (one of those who was ill) but still found the guts and stamina to get up yon and score the winner at the death, How those knackered lads survived the Exeter onslaught,is a testament to their desire imho NOT Your football genius Dav.

Re: Exeter City Match Thread.........
To a man, we were excellent today. From the first whistle we wanted it more and they scored against the run of play. Always fancied us even at 1-0 down. Lads who came with me were gushing about the effort and belief we had. Moly doesn't seem to be at the races yet though, but they all had fight.
As soon as 2nd half started, I knew if we could get one then we'd get two. Exeter lads in pub after game reckon we bossed it and that we'll be in with a shout of play-offs come May.
Only concern is No.1 spot, he looks nervous and short of confidence and that's never good in a keeper.
I watched us against Wycombe and they didn't stand out against us, there is nobody we can't beat in this league. Anyone can beat anyone and have a good feeling about the months to come.
Final note - It was great to see my "new mate" Cashman again - Carlisle, Yeovil, Exeter and home v Wycombe. Smashing bloke who loves Stanley like we all do. Also had the pleasure of meeting Stanley Nick - We are a unique bunch.

Re: Exeter City Match Thread.........
Agree with smobile, Simpson was very shaky, a number2 at best in my view, reckon a keeper is a must in this window, if this play-off talk is serious.
