Re: Exeter City Match Thread.........
Hi all.
I'm an Exeter Uni student so have adopted the team. Well done on the win today. Thought it was a smash and grab performance but you took your chances! Also I thought your pressing game was the best i've seen in the league this year.
Anyway I do commentary for university radio and wanted to post the highlights for those that weren't at the game - go easy on me, remember it's amateur radio!!

Re: Exeter City Match Thread.........
Sorry Will check statistics,Stanley had more shots on target, so hardly a smash and grab? Commentary wasn't that bad though.

Exeter City 1-2 Accrington Stanley Commentary - 03/01/15 - Will Brookes by Xpression Sport | Mixcloud
Good luck for the rest of the season![/QUOTE
A very selected commentary......what happened to the 5 /6 stone wall chances Stanley had before you scored from your first shot on target. As Cashy says look at the stats.....The difference between the two teams was Exeter came off the field a little tired whereas The Stanley Boys left it all on the field....and believe me there were lads on that pitch that shouldn't of been playing through illness....a real fighting performance...As for you Mr Brookes good luck but if your course at Uni is anything to do with Reporting drop it,but if it's anything to do with fairy tales a degree with honours is a cert.

Re: Exeter City Match Thread.........
Made it back in just over 4 hours. I must say the Exeter fans we met were a very friendly bunch and were a pleasure to talk to in the pub prior and walk to the ground.
Simpson looked very shaky today....his inability to decide whether to come out or stay at home gave them two gilt edged chances today.
The game changed second half when we got tight and much more physical on their number 33 Harley . Everything they created was going through him in the first half.
Thought the sub was made too late....but then again what do I know. I guess we didn't want to disrupt the rhythym whilst we were on top. I'll happily get it wrong every game.
All in all a typical JC Accy performance...dangerous going forward but palpatations every time the oppo cross the half way line. Although it has to be said our defending in and around the area was much better today and the defensive units decision making was spot on.
Still think Liddle occasionally wanders a little too much. Would have taken a point and it looked to be panning out that way. Delighted
Also....what is Coley feeding Shay McCarten? A completely new player!!

Sorry but I disagree about Liddle. For me, it was a 3-way split for MotM with Lidds, Rob Atkinson and Tom Aldred all putting in great performances. In addition to scoring the winner, Tom made a goal line clearance that was worth a couple of points. Proccy must have covered every blade of grass on the field. Luke Joyce also. I agree that they all worked hard but, like Cashy, I feel we got those 3 points despite the manager, not because of him.
Going back to Michael Liddle, in some ways he was forced to wander. Moly's indifferent form makes more work for the full back, and furthermore, Nicky Hunt had his hands full with his winger which resulted in Tom and Rob being drawn across and Lidds moving more centrally to cover them.
Of course, we had to have a little cameo from Crooks. I thought Maguire was disappointing once again. That he plays 90 minutes to the exclusion of Gray, Carver and Windass defies belief.
And a special word of mention for the referee. Crap. And the same word for the assistant referee in front of us Stanley fans.

Re: Exeter City Match Thread.........
BBC possession stats never make sense. I'd stand by smash and grab.
As for it being selective commentary - I completely agree with you. There were two good chances I left out for Accrington. As you will appreciate, we are Exeter University Radio so it does focus more on the Exeter chances and it can only be a couple of minutes long.
I didn't think about posting on away fan sites until after the edit so in future i'll make sure to make the edit less biased when it isn't only being used in house. I'll take that as constructive criticism!
On the match - I'm surprised someone said Maguire was disappointing. I thought he was incredibly isolated the entire match, but boy does he hold the ball up and run the channels well! Looked a good player at this level to me.

Ah that something else Will, I never looked at the BBC Stats, i always look at Skys' so does that indicate "Both" are wrong, and you are correct?

Re: Exeter City Match Thread.........
Thanks all for some wonderfully different views on the game for we absentees. I have never understood Coley's lack of subs, but hey ho. Just finished reading "The Plantagenets" and it sounds like we had 11 Lionhearts at Exeter. Sorry, Cashy, I forgot you already said that!
